I agree with you in that i'm sure Serpent will take care of me if the chassis breaks. My concern is having it happen at the track, and without a spare.
Since it is a recognized problem, it would be nice to get it in the kit, and not have to worry about if, or when it will break.

Ive ran mine a few times with slicks addative on a tight carpet track and am loving it.
Tried it with Tonys setup with minipins rear and sch cuts fronts as well as the astro springs. WOW it works really well.

I did this race shell that Im was really happy with but the white flakes and it just went to crap, pretty sad about it really. Ill have to get another shell and have a do over.

The aluminum front bulkhead is nice to have. Other than standard tuning parts like springs and pistons, any other optional part is just nice bling. The aluminum rear hubs are sweet, vertical ballstuds and 5 camber link locations instead of the stock rear hubs horizontal mounting and 3 locations. Some people are cutting down the transmission brace so that only the center post remains. Gives the car more flex and more rear grip.

I sold off my Serpent fleet, no time to race for me (would not race another brand!).
I have a bunch of random stuff left. Front arms, brass ackerman arms (#2), brass rear weight (goes just in front of the motor on the mm), spare idlers, diff gear, tie rods, spare front shocks, tires mounted front and rear, rod ends, spurs, pistons, slipper plates.
PM me if anyone is interested in this stuff.

For me the Serpent has been my best 2wd buggy to date (and I have run the Losi 22, Team C, Durango, Yokomo, B4.2, B5, B5M). If you go with Serpent, join the FB group (Billy posts there often), start with the Fast Stock setup from there, and get a BFast Pro Driver diff kit. Love my Serpent SRX-2MM!

Serpent has a light wieght top shaft and slipper eliminator kit.
The front and rears are the same offset as a B5, however the front hex is very shallow. A lot of guys including myself just dremeled some clearance in the wheels webs.
If you are using the New B5 60mm JC front wheel, those fit perfectly.

I prefer the Exotek top shaft and slipper eliminator. With the Exotek, you can easily throw the slipper back on. With the Serpent, you have to open the trans case to replace the top shaft. If you're going to do that, you might as well do the light weight front hexes from Exotek too

And RCShox sells narrow, lightweight gears for the trans.
