Default Traxxas Slash 4x4 - Opinions Needed

Hi everyone,

About to purchase a used Slash 4x4 but the seller states:

"Something appears to be wrong in the gears when you roll it but it was still driving fine"

You guys have any ideas what can be causing it? Thanks.

which gears, since there are 3 different places where gears are used in the 4x4 drivetrain.

Im assuming at the central spur and pinion. Most common problems are stripped spurs, or gears with broken teeth. since it happens when he rolls the truck…the gear mesh cold just be knocked out of alignment.

is the add on here?

That was also my first guess (pinion/spur). I found the ad on Craigslist.

even if something is wrong with the spur and or pinion, both of those new is about $10?, something like that, pretty cheap.

What would be the worse case scenario of the "gear" issue?

ummm, not much, seriously. the slash doesn't have very many moving parts. I guess a bearing could be bad, either in the spur holder, or in the diff housings.

bearings are known to go bad. (if this is the case, either run the dual bearing mod, or get a better bearing, or get the king heads mount.

Thanks for your input Panda! I appreciate it.

Btw, is the Sigma charger that comes with it pretty good? Is it a good brand?

I believe that it is just one of the run of the mill standard 4 button chargers. Nothing special.
