I could see this as a way for sick kids to race from their hospital room. Maybe partner with make a wish or some other non-for-profit organization. But for regular people this would be way to expensive to do.

The expense of the technology needed to make this work couldnt be recouped through what you'd have to charge.

Think of cameras alone and what kind of line you'd need to avoid lag of that many video streams (not even counting the streams for controlling the vehicles). You'd need probably 3 streams per vehicle at a minimum.

And then ultimately the user is still "playing a video game".
