Well first race of the etruggy went well. We arrived Thursday at AMS around 9:30AM, got signed up, and got the batteries on charge. The line to get on the driver's stand ranged from 45-90min all day, but managed to get in 3 runs on the ebuggy and 1 on the truggy before they started seeding practice. Truggy felt great, a little loose in the rear, but was running stackers and most had turned to a smaller pin.

Seeding practice began, but stopped after 5 heats when the weather came in and took out the power. When it came on later that night, they did open practice till midnight, and I got one more pack in both, the etruggy on Hybrids felt solid, exceptional turn in, jumped flat, and felt for confident. Next morning, first qualifier started out really well, and was actually near the top of the heat on a 9 lap pace when with about a minute to go, sheared the pin in the rear drive shaft. With partial 2wd, started to fall back in the pack as I could not clear any of the jumps, and making it up a couple hills was a struggle.

Fixed everything for the 2nd round, though was now seeded in the B qualifier. Ran so so for the 2nd and 3rd, just making mistakes while trying to get a feel for driving a truggy. Ended up qualified 7th in the B-Main. Main started as you would expect mid-pack, roughly, and while I ranged a bit in place, made too many mistakes and ended up 8th at the end. I did get into the 32 second range fir the first time, and overall had a blast.

Setup was the same as Chicky posted, and never felt the need to make any changes to it over the weekend. Chicky's truggy looked fantastic, though he was running a little different setup then me. I think I was probably a little too heavy on the diff oil for the low traction (7/10/5 V1 diffs) but everything else felt really good.

Thanks Chicky and Joe for the help, and Steve for all of the support!

Grant

++edit++

Do you have a part/kit number yet for the Etruggy Chicky?

The part number is 600033 should be shipping next week and I'll have a price shortly.

Here are some pictures of my truggy and the setup I ran at the Quebec Classic. The truggy was pretty unbelievable the last 2 races with this setup. In the pictures I have the LR block but I actually didnt use that at the last 2 races. For the LW radio tray I used the speedo/servo mount and for the center diff I used the carbon plate and a nitro plastic cover ground flat to go over the carbon plate. For the receiver box I cut it off the old radio box and screwed it to the carbon plate to keep dust and stuff from getting in the receiver. With the alu servo saver I used the alu top part and the plastic bottom. The setup will also be on Serpents website shortly if you cant see it clear here. If you have any questions let me know.

anybody got e-truggy yet ??

Keith B 07-30-2014 03:15 PM

It's pricey just under $650. And it's still a pre order item

Converted a nitro truggy and been running it since AMS. It is absolutely amazing! Put Chicky's setup on it, and never looked back, it turns incredible but has a stable rear end, flys great...it just works.

It may be a truggy thing, but tires have almost been a placebo. I have run Impacts, Hybrids, and Stackers, and either am the master at tire choice, or everything just works.

One of the best RC purchases I have made. :)

Look around more. Kit is $610 at Amain and $589 at Desoto. Both in stock.

Finally took some pics of my Truggy (converted from a nitro). Quickie paint job, still need to get on a track.
