looking to move into the 4WD SCT class
I have the TLR 22SCT atm and looking/wanting to move up to 4WD.
My question is which 4WD out there is race worthy right out of the box without having to buy a bunch of option parts to be competitive ? and also which truck if any is easier to tune or more forgiving without having to be "dead on the setup" . thanks in advance Cory |
Either a tlr scte 2.0 or a tekno sc410. Both are great trucks.

the SCTEs are pretty competative no matter the generation. The "1.0" with the tuning kits still do pretty well indoors, the MIPs seem twitchy indoor but do ok outdoor, I'm running a flex chassis with the tuning kit and run between 2-5 in the A main (still looking for a win), and the 2.0 are tough to beat inside and out. I came from 2wd and all the tuning tricks translated well to the SCTE. It made life pretty easy to dial in. I bought a used roller, hunted the classifieds here for the expensive parts i wanted (king headz mount and diff holder), and have just been doing minor tuning and rebuilding diffs and stuff. |
I have had a scte 2.0 and now have a tekno. I would tell you from my experience to get the scte 2.0 to start. I felt it was easier to tune and drive vs the tekno. I am still working on a setup on the tekno but I will say that my lap time were a tad faster with the tekno. The tekno has some characteristics that I don't like about it but trying to tune them out is challenging right now.

Take a look at the Racers Edge Pro4:

Losi 2.0 and the Tekno .These are the 2 best choices right now . I would pick the Losi , because of their presence of the forums. There is a lot to be said for all the info there team shares here when it comes to tuning and improving overall performance .

I have been quite happy with my Slash LCG.

I bought a 4x4 SCT, raced it once and sold it because the class was just this, it was a hack-fest. If you want 4x4 try 1/10 scale 4x4 buggy or 1/8th scale e-buggy. Wayyyy more fun IMO. |

Don't listen to anybody cause it will make your head spin because there are so many good trucks out there right now. Anyway go to your track if you are going to race and see what some of the guys are running racing. Then go from there. Also make sure you get one that you can get parts for easily at your LHS.

The tekno sct410 I would say is the best sc on the market right now I know many people that switched from scte 2.0 and scte mip and have been very happy with the truck
