Belt drive and ball diffs..........not going to get a lot of converts that way.

Electric 8th scale is off the hook here, not because they are the most suitable 4x4 vehicles for indoors, but because they are nearly maintenance free, and uber user friendly. Many, such as myself, would consider getting a 1/10 4x4 because they ARE more suitable indoors, but not if we are forced to endure the maintenance of ball diffs and belt drive. We ditched all that jazz once, and are not likely to return.

I did wait for this kit for very long time. All those years since re-release of XX4 WC i have been racing xx4.
I must express my grate concern about the matter that new kit will also have a front and mid belt in 2mm pitch. In may opinion thats the biggest mistake in this new design. Previous kit (XX4) used to have lots of disadvantages when we took its fragility in consideration. I personaly made my own conversion of shock towers ( aluminum base+ carbon fiber plate on top) as I do work as CAD/CAM designer and CNC programist.
But those parts were week points only if you were a poor driver that made mistakes and landed big jumps on shock towers instead of wheels
On the other hand there was a problem of belts. This was not a matter of grate concern before the brushless motors. How ever when people started to use 6.5 -5.5 motors in high traction conditions such as bluegroove or carpet front and mid belt just did not do. I used to replace those belts about for every race weekend on clay and after about 6-7 runs on carpet. Then i made a belt tensioner for mid belt. That did help to extend belt usage for about 10 runs. But it still was a week point no matter how calm your driving was. front belt did not sustain heavy braking and mid one was overstretched during acceleration.
When I went trough pictures of parts in drive in new "xx4" i must say i became a little bit disappointed. This would be once again a week point of the car.
I will definitively made my self new mid pulleys in 3mm pitch but that is not a solution for a global need of bulletproof transmission.

One of the main reason 4wd 1/10 is dead is because of the amount of maintenance they have required. Ball diffs and belt drive is the same old same old.

Once you build the diffs "right" they will last a long time, the drivetrain is sealed, there will be no belt maintinence. When I raced a losi Eight E 2.0 I did alot more maintinence on it than I ever have to any of my 1/10 th 4x4's. and I have owned many of them over the years. the key with belt drive is the sealed drivetrain....thats where schumacher has their downfall in my opinion.

Really dissapointed with the belts, ball diffs and weird steering system, looks so outdated and the body is ugly.
I really love the 22 and i told myself i would support the new 4WD but i am kinda on the fence here. Not ready to ditch out almost 500$ on something i am not sure about. I hope TLR can convince me untill January
