Been running a c4.1 on Australia for a few months now with no stiffeners and had plenty of hard landings with no bend...

There is no AE logo anywhere on the box. Look at the pictures of the box I posted a couple pages back.

I dunno about that. The car has a 3mm thick aluminum chassis, and I bought the stiffeners which are a whopping 4mm thick. I suspect that when I'm done building it, this will be the stiffest/stoutest chassis I ever owned in 25 years of racing.

FWIW, the side rails are 18 grams (pair), while the "kit" aluminum saddle pack clips are 9 grams. Users can mount a single short lipo or saddles.

And about those side rails - I'm one of those guys who sands but NEVER glues carbon fiber layups - mostly because I never see the point. These I glued and sanded just because I was afraid of getting a splinter while wrenching on the car.

So far, other than a couple of out drive shims and a couple of screws, the kit has been perfect. The fit and finish are surprisingly good, and the hardware has very very high quality black oxide finish. In fact, it's the best standard hardware I've touched since the early 1990's. Apparently in the UK they must race these a lot in the rain....

And....I'm done for the night. Tomorrow is a work day/night local club asphalt race, so I'll not be posting back for a while.

It was a fun car to build!

I am being a bit mischevious but a lot of people did suffer from bent chassis on the C4.1. But with the C4.2 and the newer chassis we will see !
Hope it has been sorted because I do really like the car.

Rear bulkhead plastic is really soft....order an extra one or two.
The stamped alloy chassis is very strong, like a gas truck chassis. I doubt it will bend.
Easy build for for an expert. A few shims on the diff outdrives to take up the side to side play and some hand fitting on the susp mounts are easy.
Over all...smart design.

How is is going to fail, other than the shock tower screws tearing out?

BT told us the only part they've broken so far as a team is the rear bulkhead. Instructed us to order an extra or two.

I think I figured out the side to side lash on the gear box. Further, I think it's a feature and not a flaw. Buy some 10x15mm shims anyway. You need three or four.

Unlike the C4.1, the new C4.2 gearbox can also accommodate Team Associated’s geared differential for further fine-tuning.
