JRX-4 anyone think losi will make it?
 

Now that the JRX-S is out, do you think losi will come out with an off road version? maybe a JRX-4?

An off road version would be a joke :lol:

The length of the diffs prevent them from having any decent length suspension arms - how is that going to work on any track that's even mildly bumpy?

It cant get around an on-road track without breaking, what chance does an off-road have!? :p

it will have those funny new driveshafts tho, from the jrxs.. ive seen em ! probably the next hop up ?

They are working on a new 4wd, but it will have nothing to do with a jrxs

I belive it will look like an xx4 but with better transmission access

Why don't we write a wish list for the new car? Maybe it will be useful for losi guys... :)


My wish list:

- Fully enclosed drive train but easy access to diffs

- Uptravel and downtravel stop screws

- Jrxs's style shocks

- 2 belts transission

Didn't Losi make a front shaft drive for the JRXS? That could lead to something nifty. Shaft drive seals so much easier.
Yokomo has been making open belt drive cars for years and while they run well, they only do so for two to three runs before you have to tear everything down, unless you run on a moist indoor track.
The other big part of the XXX-4's success is that the same batteries can be used in all of a racer's off road cars. Not a big deal to some but a very big step in the right direction for the majority of sportsman racers on a limited budget. If they do a new car, I hope they figure out a way to keep that configuration and make it work.

I dunno about the shaft for the jrx-s. I'm sure they considered a shaft at some point, but they obviuosly discarded it.

In regards to the original question:
If losi just convert the jrx-s to off-road, then it'll be the first losi 4wd off-road car I won't be buying. IMO the diffs are WAY to exposed to have a realistic lifespand before a rebuild is necessary if you drive it on a outdoor dusty track, and the suspension is way to short to be effective on any type of off-road track.

I would like to see a center battery mounting position, but I'm not sure they'll put that much work into it. I'd imagine we'll see an overall layout similar to the xx4, but with easier access to the drivetrain.

I used to run Yokomo 4wds on very dusty tracks and could go several months without a re-build.

I am not sure how much they could do, but maybe they could shield parts of the drivetrain with lexan similar to another buggy I saw on here.

Personally, I would like them to make a buggy from the ground up but try and keep some good ideas from the JRX-S in mind.

Doing a straight conversion from sedan to buggy by just hanging some buggy suspension on doesn't always make the best design. Maybe thats why the Losi guys are running the XX-4 at the worlds instead of the XXX-4 and run the JRX-S instead of bringing back the Street Weapon to run in there touring races?

I do know this for sure, if losi does go with a new buggy and starts from the ground up, could be one heck of a vehicle especially with all the competition they are getting from other vehicles.
