Hey all...so i burnt up the motor pretty bad on my trophy....I was running a tekin 2050kv....It had a 1950 kv so i figured it would be fine...The stock pinion was a 15 tooth....should i have been running higher than that? 17 maybe? Any help would be great

lots of possible explanations for burning up a motor.

did you bother checking your temps?

Yes it was 200 after teh motor locked up...the truck was fine with the other motor...all i did was switch motors

have you not been paying attention to all the warnings about not overheating these motors?

Using a bigger pinion will cause more strain on the system. If you put in a more powerful motor you need to gear "down" which means 14-13-etc. This is a pretty good overall explanation about gearinghttp://www.teamassociated.com/pdf/ca...ear_ratios.pdf

Is that a guess or do you have a temp gun? 200 seems low for a motor to lock up. Have you ever regularly monitored temps before?
