Default Thinking about a Tekin

I have a Losi SCTE and am thinking about changing motors and maybe even esc's. I have been looking at the Tekins but can't make up my mind about which one looks like the best one. Between the SC4X, Pro4 or the Pro4HD what is everyone running?

Don't really hear much about the sc4x, on the other hand you can't go wrong with the pro4 or pro4 hd

Not sure if you race or even care, but the Pro4 HD is not ROAR legal. It is likely the strongest of the bunch though and if you race your club may not care one flip about ROAR legal or not. Most clubs are more worried about batteries and tires.

Depends on your needs, are you going to be racing? If you are, i wouldn't bother with the HD. Too much power. That said, the pro4 is already borderline too much power for my SC104x4. you might also find that there are some restrictions for 550 4Pole motors where you race

Yes I race and the 4 pole 550's are ok to run. In the summer I run on a large on-road parking lot track and in the winter on an in-door off-road large clay base track.

For your needs, the Pro 4 4600 may be the best bet. Plus, if you ever decide to get into any racing that is ROAR related, you will already be covered.

Pair it with an RX8 Gen 2, run the current limiter at 75-85 range, NO timing, and gear it 14/40. This will be a good all-around starting point.

The Pro4 you can run sensored or sensorless? I have a sensorless esc for now.

You can run any sensored motor unsensored.

Yes for now I just race in club events. I don't see myself running in any big time races. So I take it the SC4x is out...

Pro4HD is too much IMHO. You need to limit it to 30% on your esc, otherwise itll just spin the tires. The regular Pro4 is more than enough. SC4X was more for the lighter vehicles like the SC10 4x4 and the Durango.

Really? I run the 4600/rx8 in my SCTE and its great. It would depend on the track ihmo. When I run at our local 1/8-1/10 clay track its perfect, truck is hooked up. The other track is just 1/10 and clay but is a little tighter. With the 4600 I need to drop a tooth, limit the current, or be more conservative on the throttle as its alot of motor. The 4000kv might be better in that use case.

I love the Pro4 4600, its what I run in my SCT410. HD is overkill.
