Castle is great for a Slash, but not a racing buggy. Get a low profile servo, pretty much any one available will be good for the buggy.

best car for the money would be the turnigy motor and esc.

if you have any thoughts about running mid motor on it, i would get a http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDEAY&P=7. alittle more money, but it will make your life easier with the mid motor car. i currently run a full size servo in my mid motor car, but i also have a small rx.

if your only running rear motor, the previous hitec i linked would be a good servo.

the other option if you run a full servo and have space limitations due to your rx is that you can mount it to the bottom of the servo to free up some electronic space in mid config.

Ok, I think I'll go with an 8.5T TrackStar then. Is it better to get the Turnigy ESC in the combo or get that HobbyKing X Car 120A ESC separately with the TrackStar motor?

I'll go with that HiTec servo you linked as well

Also could you let me know if this stuff is compatible? I just dont really know what im doing and I feel lost!

Castle Creations Sidewinder SV3 motor/ESC combo 4600 kV - $110
Savox 1257 servo - $67
Spektrum DX2e Radio System (transmitter and receiver) - $59

Does this stuff look good? I'm trying to get into racing, but I dont have a ton of money to blow.

Also, I am totally lost when it comes to the motors...should I get a higher kV? I have a bunch of 2S LiPo's that I will be using.

Thanks a lot in advance for everyone's time and help.
Do not buy that motor and speedo!
For relatively similar price you can buy a Speed Passion Reventon Pro and motor combo for around $140ish shipped on fleabay, I'd start with a 10.5 turn. A 6040 spektrum servo will be similar in price also. Pm me if you need some help finding anything.
If you buy the trackstar, get the 120 xcar speedo and any of the trackstar motors are good also at a really light budget price. Make sure it's a sensored motor and esc!

LOL, I would not touch their current generation motors or ESC's. When HW made their esc's they were much better. And $140 is 2x the $70 for the turnigy. I would take that turnigy motor over the SP motors any day.

Wildcat1971, would you pick the HobbyKing X Car 120A ESC or the Turnigy ESC that comes with the Turnigy TrackStar combo...they'd be pretty much the same price

I run the HW made version speedo without any issues in 2wd and 4wd buggy. The old 1.0 version. You can still find them on Fleabay. I second you on the trackstar motors.
The xcar esc is a HW 120 clone and imo is far better than the newer turnigy.

Frank are you referring to your mid motor 17.5 setup for my RM setup? Will it be ok?

Dude....that sv3/4600kv combo will be awesome.
If I was you, I wouldn't get dissuaded.
For 110 bucks, you'll be getting some ridiculous power.

I have a sv3/5700 in my rc10 Worlds....the thing is ridiculous.
Doesn't even get hot n I'm geared on the high side....n that's without a fan.
Power, more than you can use......

The 4600...it's perfect...
You can even get a max amps 3s specifically made to fit the 22 n turn that thing into a straight up rocket.

I'm running mine with a 3s 4000kv motor n it's freakin awesome.

I had bought a sv3/5700 for the 22 but had trouble fitting the esc in there , due to the wires sticking up to far and hitting the body so I threw a 4000 kv motor in there I had laying around.....but, that 5700 will be going in there.
I've seen others with them (sv3 esc))in there so they will fit.

Like I said, you won't be disappointed if you go with that combo....That's a guarantee.
