I have 3 sets: #2 flat, #2 tapered, #1 tapered for my B4. They are very high quality and are tighter fit than stock. I initially tried the #2 flats, but the car was a little unsettled after landing from a large jump. I switched to the #2 tapered, and the car sets perfectly after a jump now. When the track (125'x65' indoor clay with many jumps and bumps) changed to the current layout, there are two sets of triples that are higher and longer, and the car started to bottom out upon landing. So I switched to the #1 tapered for more pack. I also switched shock oil from 27f/25 r to 25f/22.5r. Now the car doesn't bottom out any more, but is still very stable through the rough sections.
any other experiences?? |

seems like the tapered feature adds another level of smoothness on top on the accuracy of the fit. sort of create a "double smoothness" over stock equipment.

Actually a tapered piston allows the shock to rebound more quickly after compression. That makes the car handle the bumps better, and recover quicker after a jump. The key is using the correct weight shock oil. To heavy makes the shock sluggish. To thin and the car gets to "springy" .
only bought the #2 tapered so oils will be needed for dialing in. |
I have them in my rb6 and even though I bought the buggy with them in, I would still recommend them. The measure 11.9mm and fit perfect. I had a set of the AE machined pistons that i tried and they measured 11.85mm. Same 4 hole 55's but the ghea's packed better and kept the buggy calmer.

nice one. I've fitted then to the B4.1 #2 all round with 30wt and stock springs. racing tomorrow. .
using 30 weight there was way too much pack. then dropped to 25 weight oil simply too much pack as there was no "blow by" I think someone called the oil that would pass by the side of the moulded associated piston, "blow by". so without the blow by and using these pistons i'd have to drop to 22.5 or 20 weight oil. bummer- got plenty of 25 and 30 weight. not keen to buy more oils at the moment. fact it that I still saw guys with 'out of the kit' B4.1's going faster. this upgrade might have to go into the 'waste of r/c dollars?? any ideas ghea piston people???? thanks in advance. |
