I just took my D413 out for the first time on Saturday. I also raced on a carpet track for the first time ever. I didn't have the right tires so I used my dirt webs. Needless to say I was sliding quite a bit. One guy let me use his rear proline pinpoint tires which made a big difference, but the car really seemed to be pushing a lot (I still had the dirt webs on the front). Will that be corrected once I get a pair of pinpoints on the front as well?

Also what is a good setup to run for carpet? I wasn't planning to run on carpet when I got the buggy so I set it up originally to the gunsmoke setup I believe.

I am running the Schelle extended carbon chasis right now but I also have the aluminum extended chasis. Would the aluminum chasis be better for carpet?

I would use the Aluminum chassis for carpet, less chassis flex. Also, once you get the front carpet tires, you will have no issues with pushing.

I was hoping the tires would fix that. Any other changes that should be made to run on carpet?

i have never driving on carpet. but from what i have read, you need to change ride height and shock package. I would follow one of the setups from petit rc

Really Thick Shock Oil and stiffer springs, 60wt up front and probably 40wt in the rear.

Anything you can do to help slow down the steering will help also as with the right tires the buggy will be very twitchy and change direction quickly.

I keep my ride height around 17 and red rear springs. The best thing is tires.

Possibly limit dual rate on the radio like we do in on road?

I've raced at 702 in Vegas on their Off Road Carpet setup. Didn't have the alum chassis at the time but when I go back I will.

Pinpoints are like velcro on carpet. You will have more traction than you will need. Way more. You will experience traction rolling.

Here's the changes I made on my last visit (from what I can remember)
Chassis roll helps to create more traction, in carpet you don't need this. Imagine you are on velcro. Keep the car flat.
Low ride height. I typically run 20mm or so for Offroad. I'd go to 17mm here as a place to start.
Stiffer Roll bars front and rear. Keeps the car flatter and thus less traction rolling.
Wider in front and rear. I use the avid wheel shims. Makes it easy to adjust.
Stiffer Springs front and rear, again keeping the car flat.
Negative Expo on my radio. I use this for dirt too, but it's amazing on Carpet or for On Road. I was down to -25% on my 4PX.

Things I plan to change next time:
Alum CHassis
Yatabe Carpet Springs
Diff Oil, 300K or at least 100K.

That's all I got for now

My home track is 702. I shave the first row of pins on the rear also. But almost everything else you've said is the set up for the few of the D413's that I've seen run in addition to mine at the track. Plus they carry parts when HB sends them.

hows the turnout been since 702 went away from clay? My friend should be there at the beginning of next month to race.

Like velcro. Nice not having to clean your car. And air conditioning in Vegas is a must so it helps a lot. Make sure you have him check out the schedule so he does not show up with off-road on an on-road day.
