grats to Ty!
new buggy looks innovative and fast.
Let's hope HB/HPI can get their act straight in marketing/distribution this time.

curious to see the positioning of the battery. Wonder if its using the battery forward kind of setup like Tekno and some others do in 1/8?

Rule 8.2.3
All chassis in all electric classes (except those specifically noted) MUST accept batteries up to the maximum dimensions allowed for its application. The legality of a chassis will be determined as presented to technical inspection. Chassis that require a configuration change, and/or a modification to fit a battery of maximum dimensions will not be considered legal, and the racer will be disqualified. Foam blocks/spacers are permitted to secure any size battery in its position, but the aforementioned spacers may never be attached to the chassis. The only exception is 1/8 off-road where it’s common to use two battery packs to achieve the maximum 4S configuration, or to use a single 4S battery, which has a different specification. Only under these circumstances will the fitting of either configuration be considered legal, but the production chassis must still conform to batteries of the maximum allowable dimensions.

Yea I was quick to judge...if it was my company and I was releasing a product at this event with a driver fully capable of winning with it I would have had something together in the event of a win...especially after the first day of quals when he was at the top. Then have it go live as soon as you know he won. Might cost you a bit in the case of a loss.

I checked the TLR page last night and they didn't have anything big up for Phend yet either. So sorry HB...I'm in live for the car.

NEO Buggy reported that an unnamed manufacturer filed a protest against Ty because the car would only accept shorty packs. ROAR threw out the protest because the protest was filed on behalf of a team driver that was not in the same race as Ty.

that's pretty interesting on the protest filed. So in general does ROAR tech for this battery issue upfront or does a protest need to be filed first?

Yea seriously. The rules aren't a secret, I can't imagine HB would design a car with the intent to race in ROAR events that didn't conform to the rules.

This thing looks like HB put durability high on the priority list and after seeing pics of the XXX-4s breaking this weekend, it was a good call.

Is it too early to start the HB 4x4 SCT speculation?

I really like the looks of the buggy. I just hope the whole battery thing doesnt cause it to not be released or make them redesign the buggy. The rule to me seems like its in need of an update
