We are starting a 13.5 stk 4x4 buggy at our local track.
Mainly aimed at the sportsman and beginner crowd.
We tested with an XB4 / fantom 13.5 geared at 75/26 - FDR 7.21.
Such a blast to drive.
Cleared the biggest jump on our local track throughout an 8m run.
Lap times were just about half second behind compared to the open 4x4.

Trying to see if we can get to a similar FDR with the D413 using it's stock 72t spur.

I came up with this 72/33 - FDR 7.2 for the D413.

Does that sound right?

Hoping that with using a shorty with the D413 that it will one of the lightest wheeler out there

you are really that worried about spare parts?

The only down side I've seen about this buggy is the shock caps have me a bit worried...

that and parts.

WAY more "Pros" than "Cons" in my eyes.
same here more pros than cons

FDR with that gearing would be 7.217, so you should be good.

Amain is almost always sold out of the Yoko parts everyone needs anyway. I cannot see part support for the D413 being any worse than that. With all the time, effort and anticipation put into this car I would be shocked if part support isn't really good.

I'm not sure about that, there was a period of time when HB had a parts supply issue for their TC's. This is part of what made me switch away to another brand.

I only hope that HPI/HB has improved their parts distribution (I think they are with Great Planes now) and they actually *have* parts upon the kits release. AE and TLR's most recent releases should serve as an example of what not to do when releasing a new car and not having parts.

there seems to be no parts issue in europe. most parts came at the same time with the kits.
not all but a lot of things are in stock.

if you cant find your parts in the USA, just buy in the UK.

we have to buy most our stuff overseas, so I see no problem for USA peeps doing the same.

US people (myself included) do not like the high shipping fees of buying overseas, nor the wait time for delivery. We have become quite spoiled, but it is the nature of the beast.

I really want to see this buggy run, our track owner runs for HB and should be getting his soon, the 3 diff system absolutely excites me, as well as the shock tower/bracing system. I will bug him to run it, and wait to see what Billy Easton concocts with the Serpent 4wd, then make a decision. But as far as looks, useability, design, this is the forerunner in my book right now.

you have said it right. ;-)

US peeps are spoiled.

I have to buy 80% of my stuff overseas. And I think that at least 15% of my spendings in this hobby is on shipping fees

most of my stuff I get direct from china, with 3 to 4 weeks waiting but most of the times low shipping costs.

or I get my stuff from the UK or Germany, and witin a few days delivered. but higer shipping.

the time it takes to get stuff shipped, learned me to plan ahead

Need some help here...

So you put the buggy in your cart, go through checkout process, sign up for super saver and it will immediately give you a code to use on that order?
