Serpent 811E RTR questions

Didn't want to clutter up the guys main 811e thread with RTR questions.

Was hoping serpent 811e rtr owners could chime in with your insight on what tweaks/upgrades if any need to be done to have this buggy running well?

I just received mine and ran it up and down the road a little and then it started raining.

For the RTR version, does anything need to be tightened, grub screws on shafts ect, or do they assemble it pretty well how it comes?

Just using the car for some fun bashing, nothing to serious, so just want to know any necessary tweaks, or certain parts that are worth getting extra's of?

thank you

Check out this article if you haven't already. Its a pretty cool setup if you ask me.

If your going to bash i would suggest aluminum shock towers from the 1.0 be. Make sure the motor mounts or any screw that goes into metal is lock tighted with blue loctite.

Sounds good, I'll go through it with some lock tight.

Damn those body pins are brutal lol.

Beautiful car that's for sure, great job to the design team. I almost feel guilty bashing it...almost. ;)

You can always still race it lol!

mate I had the rtr version was a great kit and I love it but you might wanna watch the pinion coming lose you have to re lock tight that and watch the two paice motor mount as it may keep moving from the spur and keep shifting no matter what you do it keep coming undone and move

This is true and I hope to at some point when time free's up....

In the mean time, I want to take this beast to the bmx track, which is very close and have some fun?!

BTW, would the tekin rx8 combo be faster than the current stock set up that came with the kit?

Great advice, exactly the type of information I'm looking for.

BTW, I bought and have used today, two 2c trinity packs- 6300mah, 90c. Any other sugestions

It really depends on what Kv the motor is. The stock motor in the RTR vs a similar kv tekin combo would be about the same speed. It also depends on any timing boost in each combo. I think the 1850 in the RTR should be fast enough to have plenty of fun.

RavensNightFury 07-25-2013 05:47 PM

rc I agree with you there the 1850 was same speed as a tekin 1900 but different is one sensored and one not that's only thing reason why I got rid mine is I am going to get the 2.0

I was thinking the 2050kv or the 2650kv, will that be a significant speed increase? I haven't clocked it but what speed aprox is my stock rtr going?

I'm old school and in and out of the hobby which will hopefully explain my ignorance.

- Stated back 20+ years ago with brush motors
- Got into nitro
- Got the first novak BL system, liked it more than brushed motors after constantly lathing/cutting my mods after almost every run. But it was a bit to slow.
- Missed almost the whole lipo battery explosion/evolution
- Too a long break and then about a year ago I decided I needed to come back but in a different less involved way, with an RTR thunder tiger mt4, which I LOVE and beat the hell out of.
- And now, just got this serpent RTR which seems pretty damn nice.

Money is not my limiting factor, its time I don't have much of, hence the rtr's and the ignorant BL noob questions.

I bet you didn't expect my lifes story in rc lol ;)

Why not one of the more powerful tekin motors?

RavensNightFury 07-25-2013 06:51 PM

When I get my new 2.0 I am getting a 2050 Tekin motor for it

maddog9 07-25-2013 07:06 PM

The calculator said 39.0 mph at max volts of 4.2 each cell

Appreciated. So what do I need to add, motor/esc wise to get it into the 45-50'sh range? Was still planning on using those two trinity 5600/90c packs.

Cars a blast though as is, I was just tearing around with it. I love me a nice quality design.

RavensNightFury 07-25-2013 07:29 PM

Soon they come in stock
Try a 2200kv motor
