I run a 10.5 in my 22sct and as you I turn my stuff down for my son to drive as he like to drive Dads cars instead of his own. (5years old)

I turn my down to about 60% with no problems.

Some people just want to sound smart all the time and even though the point is valid it is not always used, like everything else in this world there are exception to the rule.

Let the kids drive away...

It is one of those things, if you don't understand, you lack the knowledge to know your doing it wrong. Just tonight I drove another guys car, and the throttle feel was terrible. Up to half throttle it had nothing, then it all came on in the last 40% of trigger. Now it was a 17.5, so it had very little power in comparison to my 7.5, even still it was impossibly miserable. He drove my car, and couldn't believe how easy it was to meter the power of my 7.5. We reprogrammed his stuff, and his average laps and fastest laps were way better.

What I'm saying is there are better ways than epa to make a car driveable for a new driver. A very conservatively geared 17.5 or maybe even a 21.5 would do great, the throttle would be linear, and the esc would get a chance to relax because they could use the actual full throttle.

Just for S&G put a really fast (like 6.5) and then limit the epa to 60, and see what it is like to drive.
