Default 1/8th off road steering servo ?

I know In one form or another this has been asked probably a million times, sorry.

ok i am looking to pick up a new steering servo.. i am jumping back into r/c racing after about a 15 year break... well now we got digital and brushless..
i noticed on the futaba site that the brushless servos are not listed with titanium gears? is this something i should worry about ? i am looking high voltage.. i am looking at the s9352hv ,the s9353hv or the bls-157hv..
comments ?? thoughts ?? suggestions ??

you take not much risk choosing a HV brushless TG servo from futaba, i'd pick the one that fits my budget

I just picked up a Savox SC-1268MG and I'm very happy with it. I decided on it as a result of what I read on this forum. Admittedly I've only taken it to the track once and driven around the yard several times though.

Like the XP 1015's too but just have to watch the lil brass inserts in the top case for wear.

Hitec 7955TG

My favorite. Never broke one. Good speed at .15 and plenty of torque (333 ft/lbs.). You don't need super high speed servos for 8th scale racing. HV servos are nothing but headaches waiting to happen.

I have on of the hitec 7955tg and they are bullet proof, and if I turn up the speed on. My controller it will get faster than I want it to

Super high speed servos are totally overrated in 8th scale racing, IMHO. I've never lost a race thinking, "Damn, if only I had a .05 speed servo I would have won the race".

concerning the speed it really depends

I can feel the difference going from a 0,14 to a 0,09 but since they are not the same brand and model maybe it's the servo itself, who knows

but I see what you mean, it's more about accuracy than speed

the more I race the less I look for the specs and the more I listen to my feelings

Savox was the best performing on paper. I now only use futaba have a HV futaba in my ebuggy at 7.4 volts and the bls series in the smaller cars. Works like a charm, quiet and centers perfectly everytime. The savox could never. Sold all but one of my Savox servos.

http://www.savoxusa.com/Savox_SB2274...avsb2274sg.htm Plus Castle BEC set @ 7.4 is what i run.

There is no good reason to use the internal BEC in 1/8th scale, ever IMO.

Go external, go 7.4v, set your endpoints properly, and you will never have to worry about it.

The difference between .15 and .08 is HUGE. Buy once, and be done with it. there is no such thing as overkill for a steering servo. A servo with much higher specs than you need will not have to work as hard as one that is barely good enough. Especially with the huge loads these things see in cornering and crashes.
