Heatsink & motor fans??
 

While I'm sure this is old news I'm looing for advice on a motor fan and/or heatsink. I run 1/8 castle 2200kv on 5s. I've read the castle fans are good I've read that they are junk. What's better a heatsink with fan or just fan? I know gearing dictates heat but I'm looking for some extra cooling if it works? What do you use how does it work?

Well I run sc and the fan on the motor is just added weight IMO lol, now on the esc however I find it nice to run it at 85 or 90 degrees instead of 160 haha, but my motor runs between 115 and 135 so I don't need a fan, but if u are high temping your motor then a fan might be the thing for u, I like the heat sink then a fan type of ones best, not the ones that clip on the motor and have a fan, and the castle ones IMO are ok, but that is just my opinion:)

Yeah, most 1/8th esc's come with a fan (I think). Spring is here an the grass is a growin. I'm a basher and the extra resistance of the taller grass is pushing up my motor temps. Just wondering if it would keep my motor cooler with a fan and which one's work best

Yeah I dig what ur saying....I had the castle fan and it was ok!!

Anyone running the Hobbywing 1/8 motor heat sink/fan with good results?

That's the one I'm considering. Big HW fan (no pun intended I think)

I have a custom heat sink and fan on my Novak 550. Don't know how good it works yet. I tried to embed a pic in my post above, but it no worky...
