Default 1/8 pipe help

Hey guys. I am new to 1/8 scale racing. I have a MBX-5, and have purchased a O.S. VZB V-Spec for it. I have been doing some reading here and can't really make up my mind for the pipe I need.
I will be running on a small track with very little room to open the buggy up. I was looking at some of the Ofna pipes, but let me know your thoughts. At this point money is not a problem, just need a good pipe.

Thanks
Tom

The best pipe for that engine will more than likely be the OS-2050 pipe. It gives that engine good all around power and decent fuel mileage as well.

The OS-2050 seems to be the best pipe for the V-Spec..

I agree on the OS 2050 pipe. Seen them run on that motor at our track. They work very well together. Very good all around power.

Hey Tom! You'll have to come down to TCRC a time or two this year and sling some dirt. Its my first year with 8th as well.

A buddy of mine here is running the vspec with the 2050 pipe and its nice. Runs with good power and very cool temps.

I'm in pretty much the same boat as the original poster, except for the track being more medium-sized than small.

It sounds like the OS-2050 is the pipe to get, though I've been looking at the oh-so-pretty Ofna Jammin JP-2 pipe; anyone tried one (or a JP-1)? It's supposed to be a top-end pipe (with the JP-1 being low-end), and looks like it'd hold up very well to racing.

Thanks guys. The OS 2050 was what I wanted, but wanted to check and make sure it would be good for our small track.

JKA.. I have run a 1/10 truck, but we never had a good offroad track till now. Had to get a 1/8. I may get down there late in the year. I probably will not get out to Mountwood till the State race. Jen (my wife) had Brain/Spine surgury and will be laid up for a while. My only time is devoted to my kids, her, and work. No time for playing, just time for buying. LOL!!

Thanks
Tom

Nutter, I have the jp2 pipe and it's working out great for me. I run on a small to medium sized track and I wanted the top end pipe to smooth out the violent low end power of my motor (see sig). I'm happy with my choice but I want another pipe or 2 in my box so I can do some testing. Sorry I can't give you any feedback on the jp2 paired with the vzb.

good luck

IMO, the 2050 is THE BEST pipe in 8th scale offroad. You'll probably snap a chassis before you dent or bend a 2050, and it works on damn near every engine i've ever tried it on. Awesome pipe.

Default 2050 vs. JP-1

I am running a TTR S3 with an SH 21 Pro XB. I have used both the 2050 and JP-1 on a medium to large sized track. My understanding is that this engine is more of a bottom end type. Given that....I was totally unimpressed with the 2050.While it was great on the top, I had no response on the bottom. I ran the JP-1 this past w/end ( it rained ) for only two tankfuls, and I could feel a huge difference. I have much better low to midrange, while the top is equal if not better...just my .02. Good luck.

same here. i'm currently using it on a p5. i've tried 053, 063, 086, and just recently the jp-2.

...and still went back to the 2050.
