Default 2800kv vs 3400kv on 2s on the track

so,i have been running the hw 3400kv in my slash and would like some more torque so i don't have to hit the jumps with such speed and so i can control her better in the air...some of them don't have much of an approach either and it'd be nice to clear it easier...i am already geared at optimum for the track with the 3400...it's good, but can it be better with the losi 2800kv

will the losi 2800kv give me what i am looking for (i already have one)?

if so,what's a good pinion to start off with (i currently am running 15/54 for optimum performance with the 3400kv)?

It seems to me u could use a few more teeth on the pinion!!!

Honestly with the RPM's as low as they will be on 2s lipo it won't help the way it normally would. 2800kv x 7.4v = 20,720rpm unloaded so you are way off of the 30k or ideal range most shoot for. Will it work, YES.. but that motor you have now is more than enough and is at 25k much more desirable for efficiency sake.. you just need to find the right gearing and right end point on your radio for your track and driving style and you will be very happy w/o swapping motors.

if i go up to a 16 pinion,i don't have enough to bring the nose of the truck up when clearing the triple...13 tooth pinion is way to low, nose dive city...already at 150 on temps with a 16,so i don't wanna go up and it isn't working near as good as the 15 anyways

thanks guys

would just take a look at a 3800kv/ 4000kv or 4600kv motor.

I definitely would not be going down in KV for what you want. Sure, you want torque but 2800KV is too low IMO.

gear too low it makes more heat too.. Most gear the 4000kv 14-16t range on the SCTE, so in that truck you would want to be 16-18t w/ the 3400kv.. I'm not sure the gear ratio on your traxxas but would suspect you can go up a few teeth as well with out any issues.

Looking at his sig, I'm assuming he has a Slash 4x4.

A lot more info would help? What ESC? What batteries are you using? You say you want more torque, batteries are usually the best way to get more punch. With the 3400kv you should probably be at at least 16 on anything but a pretty small track.

I would stay away from the Losi Motor and get something else like the Castle 3800 or something with a higher KV if you are getting something else.

This statement doesnt make sense. With a bigger pinion you should have more tire speed so you should have more ability to bring the nose up.

i will try the 17 or 18 and see what happens...
