That's the Mad Max Thunder Dome mod

If you've seen a video of Billy wheeling his Mugen going for transition launches across lanes you'd understand why he was thinking of doing that

I'm favoring the JC high flow at this point because from previous experience I have found their bodies really thick. This body would mainly be for my 22SCT but would like it to transfer over to the mugen if I ever go through with the conversion.

I agree that parchute'ing is kinda annoying, but it's not worth cutting
your body up because that just makes it that much weaker to breakage.
I like the SC Class alot but I'm used to driving them like a parachute.

I get a new body each year before Cactus. When I cut/vent I do a really meticulous job of leaving no rough cuts or edges. I always velcro the nerf bars to the body to help brace the body when it lands on its roof. I crash plenty and a year seems fair for a body. The Proline bodies are generally all .040 lexan. Can somebody who knows post the JC lexan thickness?

Yeah that does seem fair, and I would like to know the thickness as well.

I've had these bodies so far -

Team Durango DESC210
Proline Flo-Tek Raptor
Proline Tundra
JConcepts Hi-Flo Raptor
JConcepts F250 (new body style)
TLR 22SCT Laser Cut

I have not run the TLR body yet but it is really thin. The Proline stuff may be thicker but still easy to cut through when using the liquid mask.

As for the parachuting, between all those bodies, all with the "stock" vents cut and no additional areas, the unfortunate winner was the F250 body. No extra holes cut or reamed in the bodies, but that F250 handled better on our track and didn't parachute. It just wasn't the prettiest body to put on one of these things.

Good luck in your search though!

After you cut out your body take a hot soldering iron and rub the tip around all the cut outs and it kinda rolls the edge over. This is a slot-car trick for really thin bodies.

Can anyone confirm the thickness of the JC bodies?

Try a Team C body availible at EVO hobbies. I have had almost all of the bodies listed and they are lasting longer for me.

This, with that cage...

There is a slash floating around somewhere with a steel cage and the body cut out, looks pretty damn good. Probably doesn't parachute at all, and the body prolly lasts forever. A slash can probably take the weight penalty though, and still get around pretty well...

I'd have to have something pretty light in the mugen. But yeah, it would be legit. We have some pretty big jumps at the home track. As it is right now, when the wind kicks up, I just drive my buggy or truggy. But having an SCT that doesn't parachute can be the difference between winning and losing outdoors.
