SCTE motor question.

SCTE motor question.
I'm moving up in the world with my cars. I just got a losi scte roller and I have a motor and Esc combo from dynamite. I'm wondering if I'm setting myself up for failure...I'm gonna run a tazer 4000kv 4-pole 540. The thing I'm worried about is the motor shaft is an 1/8 shaft. I found and ordered an adapter to make it work with a 5mm pinion. Should I try a hobbywing motor or give this setup a shot first?

We run a few SCTE's out at our local club, our fastest driver runs the hobbywing sct pro 4700KV combo, I do fairly well and run an RX8 and Pro4 4600, another runs a Brushless Hobbies 120 amp esc and Pro4 4600. In a nut shell you really want to get a 4 pole 5mm shaft motor to run in your truck. They can draw alot of current so things heat up, but no where near what it will be if you undermotor your rig.

A lot of us are running 1/8" shaft 4 pole 540 motors in the scte without problems, but I don't knpw the tazer motor. I would try it and watch temps; if it is not enough upgrade to a hobbywing 4000kv 3656 motor, that's a beast.

The smaller motor shaft with the adapter will work fine. I ran that setup for a while using the Cast 3800kv motor.
Are you racing or just bashing? If racing, I'd consider moving to a sensored setup. Other than that, your Dynamite setup should work fine.

Thanks guys! Is there a mod 1 gear for 1/8 shaft or does every body run an adapter?
