Let's talk 1/8 Buggy steering servos....

I've owned several 1/8 buggies and I've always run Hitec 5945's for steering duty... awesome servo. I hear a lot on these forums that folks have had trouble with Hitec servos but I've had great luck with them. Pretty much everyone at my local track runs them too.

x-GTer,
I like the speed and range of a Hitec servo. I had servo in six different chassis and had the amp board go out on 4 of them. They admitted to having a issue with that area of the servo. 2 of them at major events. Hitec's service is A+ at repairing them and sending them back to you. I give high recommendations on that part. It kept costing to ship them out to get fixed. The new ones are suppose to be better.

I'd steer clear of the hitec's. Move your 590 to throttle and buy a 650JR great servo for around 50 bucks.

I ran the 590 for a Throttle brake and the Hi Tech 645mg for the steering. It was plenty fast and I had no troubles. The one thing I found is Hitech and JR work well together, I jsut have bad luck with Futaba.
I am going to be runnign the new ace servo in my buggy this yr since it is just huge.

Check ebay for airtronics 94357 and 94358. I just got a 358 off the bay for 75 bux shipped. But brand new they are still a pretty good deal.
*edit* I ran a hitec for awhile in my gt. Never had it break, but it would never stay centered. Switched it to throttle, and it would never go to full idle. Now it's in my B4 as that's my play car.

The Futaba 9350 is a REALLY good 1/8th steering servo.

I had a JR 650 in my steering for awhile and it was pretty good. Then I put in a Hitec 5945 and it was one hell of a diference. I have a few Hitec's that are about 4 years old with the same circuitry and gears in them. Great servo's.
I really like the Hitec's. I had two JR590's blow on me. One of them caught on fire.
