Kyosho optima Mid rear gearbox friction

Hi,

I'm new to these forums so appologies if I've duplicated my post.

Basically, I am trying to restore and improve an optima mid using option house parts and upgrades where possible.

I'm just in the process of fitting the front diff and rear gear box and have found tht although all parts are new (apart from the ball races which have had a good clean), there seems to be a lot of friction. I've used a dab of synthetic grease on the drive cogs but still seems a bit tough. I''ve also adjusted the motor gear too but no improvement.

Have I made a mistake somewhere while building the gear box?

On a side note, is a AE modified pink spot motor any good for a 30ish year old car?

Many thanks,

Nick

The pink dot is a 15 double which is fine. I ran anywhere from 10-18 turns in mine.
Hard to say where the drag is coming from other than it's a belt drive and will loosen.
Do you have a manual ? if not download one, maybe it will give the clue you need.
