What 17.5 to get?
Hey i have been thinking about trying stock buggy since i already run mod and was contemplating on getting the tekin gen 2 17.5 or the D3.5 maxzilla 17.5(i know about the roar issue but dont care) so im kind of hoping to see which one may be better based on speed, power, smoothness, and overall reliability.

My experience with a B4 and the following motors:
Orion Gen 3/Peak 17.5 - Lots of tourque, almost hard to drive on dusty tracks. Great power and runs very cool compared to almost all motors.
Orion VST - Lots of RPM, but sensative to heat. 140+ and it's just about done.
Tekin Gen 1 - My Go-To motor, a great balance of tourque and RPM, really satisfied with it. Have gotten one up to 180 degrees on accident and it's still performing great. Had another get tired after years of use, purchased a stock replacement rotor and it's good as new.
Tekin Gen 2 - Feels like above motor with a bit more RPM, If I was to buy a new motor today, I'd get a Gen 2.
Schurr Speed - Felt close to a Tekin Gen 1, easy to drive, but have to be careful when sodiering, the posts tend to come loose if left touching the iron too long. Lots of vent holes, attracts dirt and requires cleaning often.

What do you think about Viper 17.5t motors? How he stands neare the Tekin?

Viper 17.5 is a good motor. They seem to have more low end grunt then the other 17.5's. They boost well and run cool. I sold mine when I changed to a bigger motor.
I always felt like the Tekin Gen 1 was a bit soft. The solder tabs coming loose were annoying.
My Dad has a Gen2 17.5 and it has stronger and bigger solder tabs and runs pretty good.

And I don't think I would get the Maxzilla for a buggy. The higher torque might be good for 2wd Shortcourse.

Get the Reedy Sonic it kicks major ass. Just won my last 3 a mains with this motor.

Thunder power is what I been using in 2wd same feel as a Reedy
