Motor selection help (V4/D8 buggy basher)

I am planning out a build for a buggy/monster truck sort of hybrid...total 100% offroad basher.

Current plans call for a V4 converted D8 buggy, and I plan on running 5S with 6" monster truck tires (and D8T arms and parts for clearance)...

Originally thought of going with a truggy chassis and the Hobbywing Xerun M3 Monster Truck combo, but I switched to the D8 buggy for a more compact wheelbase, and I seriously doubt it will fit in the V4 D8 buggy chassis...

What would be a good economy motor that will actually fit, and deliver monster torque and speed with this setup? For that matter, what is the limit to the can length that will fit in this kit?

Thanks!

Try the Tacon 4074, it's cheap and has TONS of power. I use it on my Tekno V4 Ve8, and I love it. It's almost equal to a Castle 2200kv. Btw, the Tekno V4 Motor Mount that comes with the kit has a limit of 42mm, I believe.

Thanks man...

I get the 42mm size, and that's nto hard to find in the specs...but what's the maximum length the Tekno conversion will take? That's what I am trying to figure out.

Looks like that Takon is 74mm long (well, 73.8mm), so if that fits I at least have a starting point to work from.

Any chance you can post a pic of how it fits in your Ve8? And was it a direct fit, or did you cut the shaft?

A buddy of mine has my old D8 . He is using a Castle Creations 1518 1800kv motor. Its a slightly longer can than the 1515 2200Kv castle, and has tons of power especially on 4S. Doesn't even really get warm, even when he is running monster pinions like 27T with a 44Tspur.

I may not be of much help with the Tekno v4 D8 specific layout until I get home to take some pics, but I recently built one of these using a Tekno v3 chassis using parts bin from the D8T/D8/vorza/lightning/hellfire.

My current setup:
- 4S A123/Castle 2650kv setup... for now
- 3.8" Trenchers - 6.9" in diameter and are heavy...
- mech brakes to take some load off the motor
- 5.4kg of awesome :lol::D

Just got home, I don't have the Tacon... but here's a HW 4274SD 2200kv on the Tekno v4 D8. The motor is in the rear-most position make use of the Traktion Drive/Elektri-Clutch setup. As you can see in the pics, some room to spare even with the sensored wire... :cool:

Last pic included if you just plan to use just the standard pinions, the motor mount will be in the forward position.
