Team Associated B4.2 Thread

I was hoping for more with the 4.2
The 4.1 is fast but the part quality is poor (rear hubs, susp. slack, bearings, etc.). I wish Associated would add $100 to the price of the kit (move it to $350) and step up the part quality. I am always in envy of the Losis, Kyoshos, Team-Cs, and Durangos when it comes to well engineered parts. I know these models each have weak areas, but they seem significantly more "substantial" overall.
If the B.4 wasn't so damn fast I'd switch in a second. Gonna pass on the 4.2 until my 4.1 is really beat. Unfortunately that won't take long.

I am happy with the quality of the current 4.1. I have only broken a front arm once and I have been racing it since September. I bent a motor plate to. It has seen its fair share of tough crashes. I have seen more 22's break than b4's.

Sweet. My B4.1 is a B4.2 minus things you really don't need. Got big bores. Rear tower is modified already and that's a running change. Saver is glued and can be replaced with alu rack if I break it. Been running the VTS for a while. Only thing left is hexes front and rear and I can just grab those when my current lot of glued up tires/wheels gets low and it's not like I'm suffering terribly through pins and wheel bearings .
Awesome. Glad to see all the good stuff is in a new kit. This is *exactly* what I hoped the 4.2 would be. My only gripe is they need to make a pre-shaved ubrace because I always run A hubs with a shaved brace because our track needs a mega high rear roll center for corner exit punch.

$350 is to much for a 2wd buggy IMO. Ignore the fact that the rb6 is 450

Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a $250 kit.

That's all fine and dandy until you get bored, switch brands, or quit the hobby all together. When was the last time you saw a post from Armann (guy who started the .1 thread)? I wish this forum was more like other ones. Instead of an Electric Off Road, there would be an Associated Off Road. Would be much easier to search for info and topics could have their own thread. Instead we have 15 different conversations going at once. I hate reading **** I don't care about. Lol. Okay, I'm done ranting. Back to the .2. This thing is gonna be so much faster than the .1!

Sunco1: My B4.1 never breaks. However, its "clapped out" after a dozen races. I have slack everywhere. Less experienced drivers seem to have bearing and hub failures regularly. Local sponsored drivers seem to replace their cars every few months. The 22s, DEX210s and EVOs seem to hold up much better once a few areas are addressed.
Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a $250 kit.

Good point about the 22's and 210's. My 22t doesn't really have problems with slop except in the steering rack. Nothing is perfect though

Yeah i've got a bit of slop here n' there. I replace bearings and other parts pretty regularly so I don't run into stuff like that. Maybe i'm just compulsive about maintaince, but it should has heck beat's DNF-ing because of a silly bearing!
