I know there is a lot of mid motor craze going on. But, I have been really curious as to weather MM would work on my local track. Then this weekend, a sponsored and fairly fast AE driver showed up to run my track. I was thinking, cool I can see the c4.2 in action. But....He pulled out his RM can and never even tried the MM car. So in short, I am pretty confident that my track would not be good for MM, because even the sponsored guys wont run MM there. One of the local TLR guys also has both the MM and RM car at the ready, but run RM. So before you go MM, and spend all of that cash, make sure you have a track where MM would be beneficial. I personally think if you are to only own 1 car, RM is the way to go on most tracks. If you race a lot and travel a lot, then buy 2 cars. One for MM and one for RM.

Yea Alex Miller Lapped the field in 2wd Mod Buggy at Bumps yesterday running a B4.2. Mine felt dialed...just wish I could drive better.

Ran with a Team mate with new Serpent rear motor all day .
Conclusion ???

Rear motor is dead ....:deathstar

Went to track this week end that has a reputation for rear motor ,.

MM had plenty of grip & we will change all of the rest to MM
after another race or two .... :batman:

Agreed, one car in each configuration is the way to go. Why fight the setup to make MM work in a lower traction condition, when the RM cars are going to have the advantage, and vice versa?

Was testing my x factory cubed in a slick condition compared to the b4, and to me it's no contest. The mid can run the same lap times but you're fighting the car from stepping out, which makes it much harder to be consistent from lap to lap.

I didnt belive it either but I havent had a chance to try the a hub the 2nd race the fast guys did the shaved brace with tthe c hub and I did that and it worked I know its suppose to make better conerner speed and better traction without increasing it just better

rc car guy 10-28-2013 09:35 AM

That may be true on dirt but if you are running on a high bite surface its the opposite more caster is more aggressive and less caster is easier to drive and I have personally done that test Friday

carcrusher46 10-28-2013 09:43 AM

Not sure how you came to that conclusion but something wasn't done right. Less caster will always be more responsive no matter what the surface. Running off-road on carpet, I used to run 20° caster blocks with in-line axles on my old T4 so that it would be the most instantly-responsive vehicle possible. Running 25-30° of caster, the truck just refused to turn on-power because there was so much traction.

rc car guy 10-28-2013 09:50 AM

I swapped 30 deg caster blocks becausw It was traction rolling in the front to the 20 deg caster blocks and its really easy to drive and has plenty of steering this is gaurnteed the most traction you have ever ran on so in short at our track many things that should be one way are the opposite it had been this way since about 3-4 yrs ago and thats why I said what I did about the onroad carpet

The MM craze is going on at my track and the fast guys seem to be switching. That said my blinky 17.5 B4.1, my son racied it in 2wd mod in blinky mode. His laps and times would have been TQ in blinky by .01 shy of a full lap ahead of the next car (a MM Losi) and won the main against all of those MM cars.. I am 2 secs /lap slower than my son driving the same car. IMHO, MM/RM unless you are one of the regular top 5 guys in your class, save your money and practice practice practice.

Is that at Dutra Farms still? I've been there a couple times but I can never get anyone to call me back to reply to my questions about it. Can you email me any contact info you might have?

Thanks,

Chris

It's pretty sweet, now that we've got the roller going. This new track is what has made me want to try a 1/10 2wd buggy.
Take a look and let me know what you think.
Thanks
Brian

Yup, Im keeping my B4.2 stock RM (still fighting with setup grrr, too much initial steering) and will be converting my Durango to MM. But I am one of the slowest guys in stock buggy locally so its not like switching to MM will instantly make me a better driver.

Wildcat1971 10-28-2013 11:13 AM

lol, too much initial steering.... you own a b4, what did you expect, lol. try green springs up front. It calms the car down a bit.
