I'm having an issue with my MS-1/6.5 combo in my DEX410.. running over the winter indoors with 5 minute heats and mains everything was fine.. now that our outdoor season has started, we run 7 minutes. My issue is the ESC shutting coffin the 6-7 minute range. my gearing previously was 21/87 but it was hot so went to 19/87 and that helped for a couple heats but now the problem has returned. Temps are 130 motor and 98 on ESC. I'm running Orion 90c 5500 saddles. Its frustrating because the buggy goes great and I love the Trakpower combo but I can't finish a race.. after it shuts off I just turn the switch off and on again and its fine.. any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am having a problem with my MS-1. I have it in a DEX410 with a thunder power 6.5t geared 22/87. Any more then 5 mins the esc temps at 165-170 and the motor is 140. Originally it was geared at 20/87 and the temps were worse. Would 18/87 be better??

Uh oh... Just ordered the MS-1 for my dex410. I will be running it with a trakpower 6.5t motor geared 20/87. Are there solutions to the over heating problem?

*edit: I hear from a reliable source that the battery connection is key. I'm using Deans rather than bullets so I should be good on that front. Going to also try 19/87 gearing. Thanks ehartman!

Shorted out one of my MS-1's today. During a qualifying run, the throttle stopped working. When I went over to check it out, it worked occasionally. After removing the body, my positive battery lead had come off so it worked when there was contact. ESC was not hot and seemed fine.

After resoldering the connection, it stopped working after half a lap or so and the ESC was really hot and had an electrical burning smell. I disconnected the battery and then saw that the positive side of factory soldered capacitor had come off. After resodlering it back on, it immediately smells when I turned it off. I think the capacitor came off and shorted the ESC. I suspect that's why the battery lead came off the first time also.

On closer look, the connection at the end and the positive connection seem to have shorted out or something,.

Can one of you with TrakPower contacts help me out? I don't feel like this is my fault and I feel very fortunate that my whole car didn't go up in flames.

Ran my new 7200 80c in Mod Rookie (4x4) today. Absolute brutal power out on the track. Thanks for a great battery Shane and TrakPower.

I believe that you are geared incorrectly or something is bound in your drivetrain for you ESC to get hot enough to melt the solder.
But i would contact customer support at Tower Hobbies and explain it to them. Im sure they will handle it very fast and easy for you.
I believe the email is [email protected]

Anymore problems shoot me a PM. Ive done a bunch of testing and know the MS-1 really well.

Thanks. I've been put I touch with TrakPower. I'll just let that run it's course.

I'm running a D3.5 17.5 Maxzilla in a Durango DEX210. My motor is never higher than 120 and my drivetrain isn't binding. I don't recall ever having my ESC hot before this.

I switched from a 6.5 to a 7.5 at 22/87. I turned down the start power to the lowest settings and did not have any issues after that. I run bullets and I doubt it has anything to do with the connectors.

will trakpower be coming out with a torque rotor anytime soon for 17.5 class, really like the motor but does need a torque rotor for really tight tracks. getting killed in the infield against other with the torque rotor installed.

+1, as long as you use quality bullet connectors there's no cause for concern. Don't use the kind with the "spring" on it. I like the Duratrax ones myself.

Any charger updates to raise the cut off voltage from 4.20 to make it more adjustable up to 8.44 total voltage. Only thing that I know our oval racers are looking for. Seems like a little thing but many of the racing chargers are doing this and for a higher end charger it would be a nice feature. Still have had zero issues with my charger and power supply combo. Been working great.

The two large fans on my power supply and vr1 charger are starting to chatter on start up until the get moving, they're really noisy for about 30 seconds. Anyone else getting this yet?
I wonder if they're covered under warranty.
