Yeah, It's called SNES!

How did I know that thing would find its way into this thread?

Omg thats funny as hell I was just trying to get my mike Tysons punchout working the other day I need to fight tyson to sharpen my reflexes!

Will that really charge a lipo quicker? Your charging at 5amps so regardless i only ran lipo this past summer when i got back into the hobby

IIGQ4U 12-29-2012 07:58 PM

He's not limited to charging at 5 amps.

Will we be able to see the Sct410 in action next weekend at the KO Propo race.

A quick set of comments on the motor discussion, as used in my SCTE.
I was running a Tekin Pro4 4600 w/ 13t.
I switched to running a TenShock SC411 5200 w/13t.
Acceleration is about the same (limited by traction), top speed was a bit more on the TenShock, heat was even (about 135) with the same heat sink on each, the TenShock ate a lot more mah (drained all of my 6600 in an outdoor 8th scale style 8 min, and about 3500 on a smaller indoor 6 min).

Talking to Tekin, the Pro4 HD should be both more powerful and more efficient than the TenShock, and be out soon...I plan to try one. I only have experience with HobbyWing for ESC's, not their motors.

not too surprised that top speed was more since gearing was the same and the TenShock had more Kvs. Definitely sounds like a pig on battery lol. would be in trouble out here since its 10 minute mains.

We sure are pushing the limits of these batteries right now.

Man, wish they did at least 3S ... Plenty of them out there in hardcases now too.

Mototech 12-29-2012 09:51 PM

What's the weight difference between 2s and 3s? I know all packs vary but is there a noticeable difference?

tenshocks kv's are slightly overrated. it's why when comparing the 4600 tenshock to the 4600 tekin, you can go up a tooth with the tenshock and be comparable in speed but lower temps.

spunkysandoval 12-29-2012 10:03 PM

That would be awesome. I would love to run a 3s setup on the SCT410.

About the same, maybe a bit lighter with a 3S pack. Remember that you go down in mAh when going to 3S, as well as going to a lower kv motor. For example, if you a running a 2S 5500 mAh battery with a 4000 kv motor, you can go to a 3300 kv motor and run a 3S 4000 mAh battery. In general, 3S batteries are often cheaper as well, since the individual cells are lower mAh and are cheaper per cell. It can be harder to find 3S batteries tho, especially in a hardcase. Hobbyking will probably be your best bet.

The whole debate on high voltage setups leaves me a little perturbed. At the start of our 2012 season at the track that I ran this past summer, I announced that we would run only 4s in ebuggy. Boy did I get flamed!!
The high volt boys said they had no advantage, but they are wrong. Even when geared for the same top speed higher volts are an advantage .
That being said, I do agree with all the advantages of higher voltage setups.
But.... the rules are the rules. Whether we agree with them or not.
If I travel to another track, or go to a big race somewhere, I want to know that I am on equal footing with all the other racers. The only way I can be assured of this is if the rules are the same everywhere.
I don't like the speed limit at 55mph, but that is the law. I would rather travel at a much higher speed. It makes sense to get where I am going sooner, doesn't it?
Many racers disdain ROAR and the rules they make, but without them, our hobby we love so much wouldn't be where it is today. Remember that. Especially you newer racers (I have been racing for over 20 years).

rcmiket 12-30-2012 08:10 AM

Does anybody know if the new Tekin HD motors are going to be ROAR legal? I think they are going to be 4 pole 550 size. I didn't think that was legal yet. Only 540 4 pole, or 550 2 pole.

RC*PHREAK 12-30-2012 08:13 AM

Correct. They will not be ROAR legal.
