Default Opinions on best overall 1/10th 4x4 SCT

I'm going to buy a 1/10th 4x4 SCT and was look for some educated opinions on the best overall 4x4 SCT. And give me a couple of reasons why you think so, you can also give your opinion on the worst.

You're going to get all sorts of answers with such an open question. "Overall" is just asking for a flame war. Anything particular you are looking for?

Losi
Pros:
- Easy to drive
- Readily available parts
- Durablish
- comes pre built
- great on low to medium bite outdoor tracks.
- TLR helps support racers on the RCtech forums

Cons
- comes pre built. No joy in building ang learning.
- Little heavy
- shock towers are kinda bendy. but you can always upgrade once you bend one.
- The center CVD's sometimes fall off.
- needs a better chassis stiffener. You can upgrade.
- not as good on tight indoor high bite track
- Not really a racer out of the box

Best for what? Not all are created equal.

1. Racing, Bashing or both?
2. Is local parts support important?
3. Are you looking for an RTR or kit?
4. Looking for low cost, or is the sky the limit?

If bashing is your thing and you don't plan on racing, I would go with the Slash 4x4 Ultimate RTR. If you want to race or both, I recommend getting the Losi TEN-SCTE w/TLR upgrade kit and an upgraded alum chassis.

+1 to this.

My opinion is obvious as I do own an SCTE. I love the truck. It's been a blast and the durability has been unmatched. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the thread title was definitely SCTE. The truck is just simply good. Every track I attend, 3/4+ of the field consists of SCTE's. I will say, the truck truly shines outdoors. Indoors, the SC10 4x4 and Durango definitely edge it out. That's not to say the SCTE can't be made competitive indoors.

upgraded scte all the way. Bone stock for racing the durango. But I won't touch the rango anymore since my upgraded scte. The rangos unbalanced out of the box.

NOT KNOCKING a product one way or another but THIS^^^
and thats coming from an owner.. of the car

i've built a DEX410 and its solid extremely tune-able and i haven't had the pleasure to run the DESC as we don't have the class for it but i'd be my choice.

the OFNA offerings are supposed to be good as well

Thumbs up

"Best"...
^^^ this^^^
Or a Mugen SCT conversion, or the couple other brands that racers are building. Far superior, feel like I'm cheating... but I'm (and they're) within class rules.

Default A little more specific!

Let me get a little more specific, I'll be racing carpet indoors, nuthin' serious just Saturday night local track. but I'm one of those guys that can't leave stuff alone and love to build my own stuff. I've got two scratch built custom crawlers, a Axial Wraith and a Axial EXO now. So far my pick is either a Durango DESC410 or a Losi Ten SCTE.

For indoor carpet get ether the SC10 4x4 or the Durango. Most likely parts support is better for the AE truck at your lhs.

I doubted between sc10 4x4 and SCTE but got the SC10 in the end. Partially because all my other cars are AE, partially because the sc10 looks slick, partially because the scte looks big, ugly and heavy.

I used the sc10 a few batteries; very unstable (outdoor, hard clay, medium size). Did some more research and found that the sc10 out of the box is unstable. Go figure :|

Would need a lot of tuning and hop up parts to correct as far as I could see.

So changed to the SCTE and I absolute love it. It is still ugly but it drives superb! Very stable, very fast straight out of the box. Next gonna add some TLR bling to make it more presentable
