Xray XB4 thread

1k or 10k in the rear, I have never ran anything under 3k in the rear on a normal bases. I think I tried 2k once but never again. I would love to know what the rest of your oils are if your running 1k in the rear. I am normally at 7k,200k,5k or 5k,300k,3k with sometime going up to 500k in the center diff.
Setup
I would highly suggest Ethan Lefebvre's setup for Thornhill jr or for med to high bite clay. 7k 500k 3k in the rear. Avid Pistons and springs. I would also suggest dirt webs to add aggressiveness to driving and to avoid traction roll. The flatter the profile of the tire the better off you will be.
I've never been able to find this setup. Googled, typed name at X-ray site... Nothing. Would you happen to have a link? Looking to build on my setup. Using Randy's as baseline since worked so well.

Thx! That's 5 degrees toe in. I'm at 3. I may try the shocks on the rear but don't know if this will mess things up for me when running at a hi bite track close by. I'm hoping it doesn't require any additional parts to mount the shocks on the rear
JAE, here, assuming it's the '015. Couldn't find one for the 016: http://forum.teamxray.com/xform/inde...setup=xb4_2015
When moving the shocks to the rear, do you move the entire tower to the back side if the diff case boss or just move the shocks to the back side of the tower and arms? Does anyone happen to have a picture of theirs set up with the shocks moved to the back?

Setup
There aren't any additional parts needed to change the shock positions. Everything needed for it was in the kit. I think the only things that you will need to change is the block on the shock tower.
Thanks! My high bite track is on a whole 'nother' level for clay. A lot of people talk about high bite but here is an understatement. Sometimes take traction away and adjust roll centers to avoid traction rolling. In any event, if I'm running 13.5, is there any benefit in medium bite or hi bite in running the center gear diff? thx

Why the avid springs over xray springs? doesn't seem they offer that many more useful options. i've been happy with 2 dot and 3 dot on clay and 4 dot and 3 dot on astro...
also as far as the diffs, these cars seem to want to have more balance to them with thicker and more even oils like 10 5 10 or 10 5 8r...at least in my experience and Bentka's...

Yeah your right. If the oils are to far apart you will notice with the xb4 as you punch it to give it power it will rock back and forth. Also like a loose rear end effect where the front end will turn left and then right and then go straight. I am always 2k way front to rear, so 7k front,5k rear, or 5k front and 3k rear. for me that seems to me best.
As for running 1k in the rear, I bet it makes the car super easy to drive but its dogsh1t low like that. if you went up it might be alittle more of a handful but i promise you will turn faster lap time.

the car seems to handle pretty good even with 10k and 10k, especially when i take it on carpet and dont want to switch fluids.

JAE, do you have Mike's (from OCRC) setup? His cars look pretty dialed in.
And Orange.
And Orange.
I don't. I've only seen him drive an xb4 1 time. Regarding the 4dot 3dot or 3dot2dot setup, those both worked for me on high bite running slicks. On medium bite, I was way better off with softer springs and the higher oil with alittle rebound. No more chassis slapping. I chassis slapped more with 4 dot front 3 dot rear. Must be the rebound
