Crafted some simple front towers in 2mm FRP (double setup) that I'm going to try out next session. Initially with holes only for the setup I currently use. Haha.

All right guys, I need some advice from those with experience. I currently have a B44.2 after owning a B44.1. I like it but I keep putting the XB4 in my basket at Amain hobbies. Then I chicken out and take it back out when I read about the common issues with the XRay. Who here has driven both and what did you think?

Nope, handmade with a Dremel. I just copied the original part by cutting and sanding tight around the outer edges. Had to flip it as the original carbon tower was broken on one side. The holes where made by drilling through the original holes.

Got out for another "one pack night". Only a handful of packs so far and the usual issues, broken camber link tab on the rear tower and a cracked front bulkhead. I knew the diffs were leaking and needed fluid but with the upgrade kit on the way and me wanting to push the limits I decided to go as is.
The front diff was practically empty and there were some small plastic bits floating about. The rear was half empty again with some debris. Careful scrutiny of the gears showed minimal damage to the teeth. I don't have a spare set of new gears to compare too (not gonna open a kit for that) but I think some of the debris was molding flash from the satellite gears. In any case I am going to clean and refill them and run them some more ! I wanna see some gear failure ! I'm only running a 10.5 so strain is minimal.
I also ran some six hole pistons, less slap but less plush as well. Net gain = zero.

I have had at least +40 pack through my XB4 and I'm yet to break a part. But saying that, I don't crash it much.

I do have one diff ready to let go but that is expected, my other diff is going strong since I put the extra shims in it.

i have the b44.2 and the xray, and i am going to sale my b44.2 , its a good buggy , my track record was 19 with the b44.2 , and my record with the xray is 18.6 and my top five average is 18.7

The harder you push the xray the better it sticks...

There is something about blank/solid towers that does it for me. They just scream cool handmade #$^&

Any sighting of the upgrade kit in US?

Cracked front bulkhead and have been limping for the last 2 weeks

Might get the original one while wait for the upgrade. A Main and Stormer listing the original one "on order"...

Anyone know who have the original front bulkhead in stock?

Couple questions..

- How does the XB4 compare with the DEX410?

- If I were to get an XB4, what else would I need to make it bullet-proof? I'm thinking wait for the upgrade kit and add metal diff gears.. anything else?
