Motor Dyno and Lathe Recommendations

What motor dyno and lathe do you guys recommend. I'm hoping to spend less than $500 for both. Any ideas that fall within this price range would be appreciated.

sdmlsu1,

Here's a link to a Hudy com lathe

very nice unit . You will like it.

As for dyno's most are using Robitronic's and Fantom. I've seen Fantom's for around $300 used. You will be satisfied with either if you find a good used one.

so. . . i really REALLY want to get a lathe. however i have noticed that most comm lathes are marketed as either modified or stock. i will be running mod and stock. are there any lathes that can handle stock and mod motors alike? what is the diff? comm diameter? shouldnt the bit still be able to reach out to small and large comms no matter?

I believe Stock lathes are designed for use with non-rebuildable stock motors. The motor is secured with a clamp and the cutting bit goes through a brush hood to cut the comm.

A mod lathe is for rebuildable stock and mod motors where you can remove the armature from the can.

I'm shopping for lathes myself, I've been recommended Integy and Hudy brands by some of my fellow racers.

hmm, allright, that makes perfect sense. so gotta do the mod lathe. i have been looking at cobra lathes, they seem cheap, and i dont need absolute perfection, but i do love to have the best of the best whenever possible. thanks for the insight, good luck finding one. . . dont steal my deals.
