Default DIY Carbon fiber composite body for SC cars

Hi! I didnt find thread about DIY carbon fiber body for rc cars specially for SC cars.

I have made two tries to make own carbon fiber body for SC

I used basic SC body for mold and laminated carbon fiber and carbon+kevlar fiber in it.

I am still learning how to do it more perfectly.

First impression is that one layer of 200gr/m2 carbon fiber is not strong enough but 1 layer carbon and 1 layer carbon/kevlar is quite strong.

Body weights 220gr.

I bought diolen fiber and I will do more precise work for next models.
Diolen is quite cheap and good compromise between carbon and kevlar.

Why not? Its much stronger and you could do it even lighter than normal lexan body. But I think its against rules because its not lexan?

i would love a losi 8 body like this...no downside at all if its for a buggy...i use velcro not mounts...how much would you charge to make a carbon/kevlar one thats as light as (or close to) a lexan body? i would send you a body to copy...i mean a standard lexan body custom painted go's for $50-$100 so you could sell these for a decent profit (esp buggies and small scales that use little material)...they already make one for the micro t. and theres a guy that just coats the inside of normal bodies with kevlar and sells them for $200 on ebay

I have to calculate it. If I use original body as mold new body is slightly smaller.

it's cute. but once you/or someone else hits this body hard and it cracks, it's game over. i would paint it up and mount on a trailer queen.

Best thing is that its easily repaired. Just remove broken part or just sand it and then put new fiber and laminate it.

come on. who's going to be doing that everytime they crash? could you imagine a new guy crashing this body over and over on a race weekend? by the end of the week the body would look like it went 12 rounds with a prime mike tyson. lexan is cheaper and easily replaceable.

you should market it towards the guys that want something for the shelf queens.

Point is that it wont break like lexan... Of course if you just want ultra light weight then it wont last so long, but with correct materials it will last longer than lexan.

I am not marketing it. Just telling what I have done.

Looks cool! Would love to see what it looks like when you get it figured out! Maybe make some friends in the aerospace industry. Lots of CF experience there! Good luck!
