Default Spec slash racing... What rules does your track use?

This thread has been created to compare notes on house rules for tracks running a "spec slash" class

I think a good question on that note is does anyone run a spec slash class anymore? Locally in Socal everyone just runs stock short course 17.5 class since there are so many brands out these days. Most have the rule of no timing(blinky mode).

The spec slash class is popping back up actually. I know that there is a track in SoCal that has something going.
A few years back when I announced at Hot Rod Hobbies our spec class was pretty straight forward:
Can change radio and servo...
Must run 2s lipo
Silver can
Sc tire of choice

+1. Our track eliminated the Spec Slash class in favor of a RTR class. You have to run them box stock. So Losi has to stick to the Losi RTR tires. AE runs AE RTR tires etc. Some kits have better tires than others. Some have better electrics than others. It all kind of evens out in the end.

Are spec slash class you could change radio and receiver and shock fluids. Everything else had to remain box stock. Had to run RTR tires , stock brushed motor and 2S. Had a minimum weight too.

up here we run em with 2s, tire of choice (including beadlock), shock oil of choice, we also allow rpm arms/hub carriers for more durability... we get good weekly turnouts still locally, down south more near the cities, they dont....

The Stock Slash class rules that are run during the Short Course Showdown series are the most commonly accepted.

From the website http://www.shortcourseshowdown.com/rules.html

Traxxas 4x4 slash, Slash Platinum, or Slash Ultimate with stock components/electronics/suspension.
Aftermarket RX and TX allowed. Aftermarket servo allowed.
Traxxas brand Short course Tires allowed only
Genuine Traxxas accessories are allowed.
All OEM and aftermarket short course bodies designed for Traxxas 4x4 slash are allowed 2-cell lipo or 7-cell NIMH battery permitted

RTR rules. With interchangable RTR tires.

Ths is more of a "hands off" class in my area for new racers and kids.

Most ofthe rules are unwritten. For example some new kid can run just about whatever he wants as long as he deosn't win. While a grown man has to adhere to strict RTR parts rules.

So yes,a kid could race an RTR with a VXL, but as soon as he TQ's the field, he might find himself listed in the Mod class the next round. If h wrecks 3times a lap, then who cares what motor he runs.

It's just a stepping stone to real racing or mod 2wd or 4x4 SCT. Not many tracks running Spec RTR SCT seriously. It's mostly just track time for newbs.

Stock tires, motor and all stock plastic. Can change rx, servo, esc and body. Can run 2s. We run on off road carpet, so it is a little different.
