i agree.. the also 4s batteries, and the smaller motors.. will burn up.. i suggest geting a 1700kv motor.. or a 1900kv.

i think its somehow rated like this..

a 4.5 motor is rated at 4000kv. runs on 2s motor.. thats 4000x2s means 8000kv.

a 1900kv tekin motor on 4s, 1900x4s equals 7600kv.

if you put that 4.5 motor on a 3 or 4s motor, your well over 10,000kv.. which is way too high for that motor.

Actually that's completely incorrect.
The formula is voltage x kv = rpm

A 4000 kv motor would be 4000 x 7.4 = 29,600 max rpm
A 4.5 sc4x4 motor is way too small for 1/8 buggy unless your buggy is magicaly less than 7lbs loaded.
For info like this don't get info from anyone just go to Tekin or another big manufacturers web site and you can find charts and suggestions.

The XB9 reverted back to the old XB8 gearing, so it is the same. A few of us ran the old XB8 gears in the 2011 808 to get the better gear ratio. It allows for much better acceleration.

Yes really no way around it, you could run 2-2s batteries together to get 4s. You can get good 4s batteries for 60/70$ Gens Ace. 3s on the 2650kv will also work but in racing everyone runs a 1700-2650kv on 4s.

How's everyone getting the bodies to fit? I have the FTW Night fox but it's not even close to fitting with a 4s brick pack. I'm talking way off, like I'd have to raise the front body mount a lot.

Any thoughts?

Too late.

I just ordered a Mugen ECO. I might try my extra set of XB9 shocks on it.

I sent a message to XRay asking them if when/if they will release an XB9e. They gave me a cryptic reply that did not confirm or deny one was coming out.

I mail brands too sometimes so I'm used to this type of answer. They need to sell availaible buggies first, the 808E in this case. I don't change my buggies often, I keep them at least 2 years. My JQ is 2 years old and I plan to keep it a year more.

I've heard rumors of possibly next year, but those were just rumors. You wont see it anytime soon though. You're better off converting one.
Heck, the 808E was a step back from the conversion anyway. The weight was shifted too far back and it lost a lot of steering as a result.
Look at the K2RC conversion kit, it's nice.

I had two converted 808E, one with a RCM conversion and the other had a losi battery tray, elite rc motor mount and traxxas receiver box . I only had troubles with diff pinions and bearings but they went back to a more simple transmission design with the XB9 that's why I'm curious about a release. I like my converted buggies for now so I'll stick with it but I hope once I want to change the XB9E will be out

180$ for the K2RC conversion isn't cheap ouch
