I come out on both sides of this debate. I'm as happy with my tekin motors as I am with the hobbywings that run them. My rx8 and mmp sit side by side in my backup box now.

There's only one mfg that has a one year warranty that I'm aware of. And last I checked their esc isn't out yet

Look guys we are listening to what you're all saying. Everything electrical has the potential to fail at any given moment given the right circumstances. Point is how those problems are handled after the fact.

Tekin is striving at all times to provide it's customers with some of if not the best electronics industry. IF we're not the best, rest assured we're working towards that goal.

Castle Creations, 1 year warranties unless its changed in the past few months. (sent in a MMP that sensor wire port broke, till then, worked excellent 1/8 with Tekin 2050Kv motor).

And Viper supposedly if there 1/8 ever comes out I believe.

For the guy asking about running different stuff together, I personally pretty much default to Tekin motors. Excellent stuff, then whatever ESC fits my fancy now. the MMP works excellent, I ran one without a BEC but some may need that.

Now, I use the SAV2 from speed passion. Excellent considering its only $70 shipped in the USA. Only real issue I see with it, its big. I mean, like BIG.

So if a product drops in price, no changes in the product, did it suddenly get worse? Or, if the price goes up $100, did it suddenly improve?

Like as a $50 dollar less ESc is more reliable ?
They are not.

Even risk damage like a shorted servo , receivers, ect using um ...

You didn't answer the question but that's okay.

As for your question in response, reliability is in the experience of the owner. There are plenty as you have obviously seen who have purchased high priced gear that are not happy with the results. Just as those who have purchased lower priced gear who are.

If a manufacturer chooses to make a high quality product, the fact they charge $100 or $200 doesn't change if it is high quality.

Tekin is for one I personally view as high quality. And as I mentioned in my question, if they suddenly said "all RX8s are now $100", assuming the quality is constant, is it now less reliable?

This thread is like chum in the water for the RcTech community. If you support one side the other side supporters will bite you.

The biggest difference is price point right? You can get away with using the cheap toilet paper but you'll likely end up with a sore ass.

I ran a $41.23 HobbyKing 120A ESC with a Tekin SC4x 4.5. Hard to beat that price point. It may have worked forever, but I upgraded because I perceived the quality of Tekin RX8 to be higher.
