Would the weight add more traction or mess up a good thing

Currently have an rb6, absolutely love the way it drives however the rear grip is really lacking and struggle to get forward bite outta the turns for the tracks I run on, medium grip at best to low/loose outdoor tracks. Is the new chassis and side guards make a significant difference compared to the original chassis?? I run mod so I'm already running 4 gear stand up, rf brass weight etc just chasing some grip, thanks guys.

Myself and several others have noticed big gains of wet astroturf (which is super slippery) with the 6.6 chassis, especially with the grub screws backed out at the rear.

Default Lay down tranny

I ran the lay down tranny for the first time last night and absolutely love the way my car feels. Jumps really well, corners like it's on rails, just amazing.

When I ran the 4 gear transmission I used this gear. I didn't notice anything and it definitely didn't hold me back.

Are the grub screws you speak of on the bottom outside in front of gearbox?
What do they do?

I agree. I have two race days on my new 6.6. 3 gear laydown on what I would call medium grip. 17.5 class. Car is responsive to setup changes. Steering feels almost perfect, rotates really nice, reacts quick but still very predictable without any bad habits. Just a little loose accelerating out of the tightest corners, but just have to be smooth with the trigger. Car feels really planted and stable, even when pushing hard. This is my first Kyosho since the Turbo Optima in '87. Long time AE guy. Very high quality, killer shocks and diff. This is a fantastic car, no doubt.

On the rear edges of the side guards.

They run into plain holes in the chassis and affect the torsional stiffness of the car by a lot more than you'd imagine.
Difficult to feel in your hands but on track the car hooks up a fair bit better with them backed out.

Got caught out running the laydown car when a sudden rain storm hit about 5mins before my final. All I had time to do was swap to suitable tires and back out those screws, car was balanced and easy to drive. Not so much so I'd suggest the 3 gear laydown is the weapon of choice in low grip modified racing but it was comparatively better than the competitors cars with the same time to make changes, actually managed to stay ahead of several who had changed to stand up cars (mine wasn't built at that time).

The KYOORG03X (clear ones) are pure silicon and should swell less if they swell at all in the shock oil. These are the ones all the team drivers are using as it makes for smoother shock.

The KYOORG03XR (red ones) are a rubber compound. They will work fine but may make the shock a bit stickier after they swell up.

I have had the 3-gear laydown in my car since I have built it in October. I run a 8.5 in it and it is truly the best car I have driven in a while.
