For a dirt glue track without a doubt go 3 gear laydown with shocks on the front of the arm and a ball diff in 17.5. Kyosho ball diff is butter smooth out of the package with stock parts, and lasts quite a while.

Why's this diff so smooth? After a couple months still smoother than my other buggy after a couple runs. Seems like an ordinary diff upon building. My other buggies' diff was the Bain of my existence. I have 2 extra Kyo diffs just sitting here waiting. Incredible

Thank you. I will go that route. I rally appreciate everyone.

How many of you have built the kit stock with no aluminum? I plan on just building it as is.

Got an RB6.6 kit for Christmas and it was the hardest build I've ever done. But it's gonna be so worth it. I'm now in the process of accumulating spares. Already got arms (F and R) and just ordered shock stays (F and R). What else tends to break? Also, what's the thought on the stock slipper? Is it worth it, does anyone use the Schelle?

Just saw this...

As of right now, I am 100% stock and I'll likely stay that way for a bit. The only items that are even on my radar are the aluminum motor plate and aftermarket Schelle Slipper assembly.

Because the balls are tungsten carbide, they retail for like 30 plus dollars for a set of balls only.

This is by far the smoothest diff I've ever built.

I don't think the kit comes with carbide balls. I bought carbide balls for a while and didn't really think they lasted any longer. Seems like the notchy feel comes from the groove that wears in the rings and not the balls.

Ball diff for stupid high grip carpet or gear diff? Also I think I lost a a ball or two on the thrust washer( i think thats what it is called, the one on at the end of the shaft that goes through the center of the diff). should I replace them or will I be ok?

Also when I say stupid high grip carpet I mean if you are not careful running carpet tires you're going in to a wall if you touch the throttle too hard high grip.

How many thrust balls do u have. If u are one short the diff isn't going to work the way it's designed

Sorry, bit of a rookie question here. Recently purchased a 2nd hand one and it is mid motor. The rear suspension hangers are RF in the front and MM2 on the rear. Is this correct? Flicking through the manual It says to run RF2 when running mid motor.
