Nope it ain't. Try an xray. The worst IMHO would be schumacher. Cartoon squiggles all over with that annoying font. K is squarely in the middle, especially with regards to gear diff building. The forums/youtube are a godsend for that

I found Schumacher's manuals to be absolutly top shelf, by a HUGE margin. Every step has it's own bag, and there are no cross contamination by other parts. (I also find the Xray manuals to be very very good) The WORST??? Tamiya.

back to the RB6

Manual good, font TERRIBLE......... Might has well have used Old English font. At least it would be entertaining, and make the squiggles look like a treasure map ARGH!!!!!!!

So is it safe to say if I buy a kit that a shop got within the last few weeks that it will have the newer chassis in the kit?

Only like 3 guys in here had the issue, and it doesn't effect performance. Your good either way.

You guys are lucky to get such a good support from Kyosho America. Down here, it might not happen but I will try my luck with the local distributor. I will most probably email Kyosho Japan and get them to provide the replacement.
