Tomorrow I'll have some time to look up prices of the corresponding rb6 parts. I don't expect the 6.6 prices to be exactly the same, but this way we'll have an estimate.

Given that the wheel base is 13mm longer, I'd say a direct fit likely won't be a case. I'd think length wise you'd be able to make it work though. Now if the width of the new car/chassis is noticeable, then you might find the fittment to be a issue there

Think someone has already mentioned about the wheelbase? They have carried over the same product description from the RB6. (13mm longer than the RB5)

The mid bulkheads for 3 or 4 gear are the same.. Part number UM740 if you have a look in the manual has 2 pieces on the tree... A laydown rear bulkhead (has 3 inner stud fixings) and a mid bulkhead still with 2 stud fixings. For mid you will still be able to use the RB6 item I'm sure.

Also in the instructions you can clearly see the 4 gear laydown could be used, whether or not all the bits are in there to do so is unclear as you would have thought it would have been in the release. The only bits that may prevent that is the lack of a motor spacer and a reverse gear cover (I'm sure it will be possible to work. Round this though in much the same way people converted the rear motor 3 gear to a mid 3 gear for the RB6)

In would be interesting to hear some feed back from tanner if he has back to backed the 3 and 4 gear laydown.

One thing that they don't talk about but looking at the manual it appears you can run a 4 gear laydown transmission like Tanner is currently using.

Plus, with the 3 gear transmission the wing now mounts behind what I am calling the rear bulkhead. That should make it easier to get access to the inner ballstuds. I am curious if you could run a three gear laydown with the wing in that position, something tells me you can but I won't know for sure until someone confirms.
If you have a good look at pages 11, 27 and 28 of the manual, you can tell that the new 3 gear standup gearbox and laydown gearboxes are designed to be assembled from either left or right motor mounting positions.

It's especially clear from page 11 (parts), where you can see the 4 gear shaft holes are located.

It's just there in case drivers want to fiddle with a 4 gear laydown. I drive on a clay track and am super impressed with the yz2 (4 gear) and the new rb6.6 kit gives you all the options to tune.

I just wonder if I can just drill new mounting holes in my current rb6 chassis to fit the laydown gearbox...

um732 chassis guards, side plate
um731 main chassis
um734 RF2L suspension mount, plastic
um736 RF2L suspension mount, plastic laydown motor plate spacer
um733 battery strap
um741 battery foam
um735 3 gear mid motor gear cover
um740 rear bulkhead
um734 3 gear mid motor plate spacer and transmission case
um739 laydown tranmission gear cover
um738 laydown motor plate
um736 laydown trasmission case
um728 sponge tape
um737 laydown idler gear
You'll also want the body (UMB05LW)
And the aluminum suspension mount is UMW705B and the Brass will be UMW725B

Old body will "fit" but won't provide the coverage that the new body does.

Yea you can drill holes, but you'll have to mill the chassis and other stuff to run the battery sideways, better to get the new chassis imo.

You can, you just have to use the standard rear bulkhead mount instead of the laydown bulkhead mount.

Default Battery placement...

Heh heh...

I use Super Shorties... I have absolutely no issues with battery placement.
I find that in a 5 minute race, the Super Shorties are quite sufficient. I dont experience a lack of punch until way past 5 mins. Also, Super Shorties charge and balance so much quicker. I love them!

Just need to figure out where the holes are.

Good to know

The LD bulkhead has 3 holes for the inner stud position as opposed to 2 holes on the std mid bulkhead... So I presume the 2 holes on the standard mid bulkhead are In the same position as 2 of the 3 on the LD bulkhead? As I couldn't decide if both bulkheads are the same width or not.

Any feed back on the differences felt between 3 and 4 gear lay down would be good
I'm assuming a little more weight transfer on and off power with the 4 gear so in theory a little more grip can be archived..?

Thank you for your input Jason.

Fyi, I did update the wiki with the additional part numbers provided by Jason and also updated the descriptions.

I have been too, what kinds of looks does your racer get in the pits? I have been racing my SC6s with them lately and i use up 1100ish mAh with a 17.5 and about 1700 with a 7.5. 5 minutes is no problem for mod and the 17.5 has gone for 8.

They always think Ima cheating, cos everything looks so nice and neat.

Actually, I always think I'm cheating too!

I do like a battery forward position on a regular/old/2012 rb6 in 4 gear mid motor... Car seems the best balanced... With a normal shorty, I'll still get quite a bit of on power push, out of corners.

Not a bad price for all that is included. I was guessing well over 400.
