Default How to go slower...

What are the best ways to limit your speed?

I am looking to lower my top speed AND the time it takes to get there.

I just converted my Losi 8ight-T v1.0 to brushless via the TEKNO kit.

I am running a 2200kv hobbywing motor with 150a ESC on 4S.

Using 13T pinion and 45T plastic spur.

Using Spektrum DX3R

No clutch, no drag brake, mech. brakes.

I am having trouble getting used to the torque on a tight track. Do most people just limit the servo travel? Thanks.

To slow the initial "hit" of the motor, adjust the punch control setting in the esc. To limit top speed, turn your throttle end point down on your radio.

I would try and adjust your throttle curve on your esc using the computer. Stock on the HW is linear, you can make it more concave and will slow down that acceleration curve. You can also fiddle with the EXP on the transmitter to dumb it down. Also maybe try a 14 pinion..top speed will increase but it will be slower getting there.

When I first got my eco I had trouble with controlling it. I put a smaller pinion gear and set my radio trim to 80% until I got used to the power.

Yeah but he's got a Losi. I understand what you mean though. The Mugen has it's own style that you either love or hate. I LOVE IT!

Yes this is very true. I have never driven a 1/8 scale losi. The transition I made was from stock 1/10 to 1/8 buggy. What a night and day difference with power and speed. I do love 1/8 buggy though. It has definitely changed my driving style. Went from being heavy with the brake (I was a noob) to barely braking. 4wd allows you to pull the car through turns.

Have you thought about a lesser KV motor? I run a 1750 and have power and speed to spare! If it's a smaller track you might look into that. ESC setting is very important though.

You can limit your throttle end point adjustment (EPA) so that you don't reach 100% throttle and you can put some exponential in the throttle as well. Also, as stated before, you can use the ESCs punch control to soften the initial power delivered to the motor.

Try to use the expo setting on your radio if it has it . It really helps with that instant hit when your at a lower speeds. You can disable the punch control which does help when racing.

Don't pull the throttle so far.

really though, throttle control will do wonders.
I ran a rather overpowered 1/8 E-buggy on a very small indoor track for almost 2 years and I just had to get used to being easier on the gas.

losi 8ight with an castle 1800 1518 series truggy motor on 4s. it would blow the tires off rims and spit drive pins out of my CVD shafts.

theres no programming in the world that can replace throttle control from the human operator.
