So, I guess we have to wait for the XB4 teaser until the trackers been satisfied...

Has there been any recent news about the release? I'm interested in a 1/10 4wd and part of me wants to stay with AE for 1/10 scale but after experiencing X-rays wonderful products I'd hold and wait for this one... Any official news from X-ray?

I am not expecting to hear anything official from xray until it gets closer to the toy fair in February. That is typically where/when xray releases their new cars. Im betting we wont see any actual kits available until a couple months after that.
I hope Im wrong, but if history is an indicator then thats how it will likely play out.

Well, that's something.
1/10 Off-road European Championship, Austria
My summer tour started the day after the last round of the ETS. After arriving home I packaged my off-road stuff and was soon on the way back to Austria, this time to an off-road track, for the 1/10 off-road Euros. You may wonder why, as there is no Xray 1/10 off-road car. Certainly, you are right but at the same time not so much.
After several months of round the clock work we were ready with the pre-production prototype of the all-new project with code named XB4. At this stage there are not many details to share, but I can say that I was more than happy with the initial handling and performance, and that I was able to confirm that the ideas we had conceptualized were successful. This means that production will get the green light for this project.
Completely new projects like the XB4 are always the most difficult and demanding, as we need to make all the moulds required for the new components (in this case, 25 all-new moulds were required). To be able to test the prototype we had to prioritize the production, build and complete first the moulds for components that could not be replaced or simulated using machined components. It was a very tight timeline to have the prototype ready for the Euros, but due to a strong effort in production we were able to make it on time. Now the rest of the molds are in progress with some more deadlines fast approaching. I will get in some more details about this project in an upcoming column.

Looks like 4WD Buggy is actually going to make a comeback. If its anywhere news as durable as their 1/8 stuff it will be revolutionary to the class lol.

The list of promising cars from bigger brands than Xray that have not brought back 4wd is long. Durability hasn't been any more of a problem for the 4wd class than it has been in 2wd, touring cars, 1/12 or SCT. It's not popular because it's too fast for 90% of racers to have good racing with.

Why is that? Why are not 4wd equally popular? Can not figure that out. Same in Europe. Personally I prefer 4wd if I had to choose one.
Funny thing many manufactures start of with a 4wd before the 2wd.
Like Schumacher, yokomo, Durango, JQ and now Xray.
Exceptions are Assoiciated, Losi and now Serpent.
If its too fast I guess it comes naturally to me. I race touring during winter and offroad summertime. More similar.

I heard roumors that the car will be available nov/dec.

4wd is on life support because people slap in 5.5's and slam the buggy around the track like it's a 1/8.

Wheeler is a drivers class. If your coming from short bus, theres going to be a learning curve. Just gotta be patient and help those guys out, keep the class alive. I am excited to see XRAY releasing this buggy, TLR should be next.. Associated releasing a rvised 44.2... Durango looks to have a good base of people out there. Wheeler is rebuilding!!
