Can a 4 year old handle a gun-shaped radio?

I have a Turnigy monster beetle and a FlySky GT3b on the way, which I bought "for my son"

It's going to be his first real RC car, and mine as well (been flying planes till now).
The thing is, I've just came to realize that his little hands might not be able to use the radio!
And what worries me the most, is what I'm going to tell my wife?
After all, I did get the car for him...

Anyone with kids this age who can share their experience?

They can be a bit difficult for the little hands and thus become dangerous. Walmart has a little rc w/ a little pistol grip radio that is perfectly sized for the little guys. It's less than $20. I started my guys out on that first and it worked great. Now a year later they have their own grave digger.

I don't think that Flysky radio has an adjustable trigger so It may be a lil difficult for the lil guy but just give it a try and see what happens. you've already ordered the stuff so It's kinda too late to worry about it. Set the epa on the throttle to limit his top speed and dial in a good amount of drag brake and he should he fine.

Here are a few of the older vids from about April. He is much smoother now.

my son who turns 4 on the 24th of june has a dx3r pro that he won as a door prize and he does just fine. he does "practice" a lot tho. Races too.

Thanks guys, that's very encouraging. I hope he can handle it.

Dont Worry. My kid is 3 almost 4 and what I do with him is he gets to steer while I control the trigger for throttle. Its a lot of fun. My other son is 7 and he races with us at the track. Im sure not before too long your kid will be handling that truck no problem.

Don't worry. If its a little big his hands will grow so fast you won't know where the time went when he turns 6 and laping you at the track.

Trust me, our kids are smarter than we think. My son ran his first race when he was still 3. He was using a Tactic radio. He is 5 now and has his own Airtronics MT-4 which comes with 2 sized grips and a completely adjustable trigger, which fits his hand nicely. With the Tactic I noticed that when he braked he would pull his finger out of the trigger and put it behind the trigger to push forward since his tiny fingers wouldnt reach. This is why I bought him the MT4.
This was his 1st race at 3 yrs old. Yellow slash

This is him at about 5 and a half driving my losi sc truck. He now drives his own Mugen MBX6 ECO

My boy is 3 in november, he has his own 3pk, and uses it well. He uses a neck cord to help him use it.
I also have a tank with a stick radio, but he struggles to use it.

my boy just turned 5 and he's doing really good with it
