A 6.5 is 3400kv, on a 4s lipo that is 50k RPM which is well over the "sweet spot" of 30k rpm. Expect extra heat due to being this much over and basically unusable for anything but speed passes.. Even a 7.5 slator would put it at 45k which is closer but still on the very high side. With 3s lipo you can be at 37.7k rpm and it will be way nicer not only for gearing and usability but temps.

With the stock 40t scte spur you will be at 47mph with a 12t pinion on 4s lipo.. that's retarded and will be too hot most of the time.

With the stock 40t and 3s lipo with 12t or 13t pinion you will be at a usable race speed (37mph) and have the ability to gear up to get some crazy fast speeds for bashing as well if you so wanted. I wouldn't go over a 14t though even on 3s lipo.

Just trying to help..

like i said i already did check the novak motor specs and the novak motor i bought can handle up to 4s lipo battery. i will try out different pinion tooth counts to get the performance and speed i am looking for. also i know i wont ever take my ten t to my local race track cause it will be my true basher truggy.

it won't be much of a basher if you can only run it for 5 minutes at a time. if you continue with your plans, i predict a "my motor is running too hot" thread. take the advice of the others in this thread and either get another motor or get some 3S batteries.

I was going to say the exact same thing and you beat me to it. Those motors are rated to run for a 5 minute race at which point they are at max allowable temperature. Bashing is generally harder on the motor (more full throttle, more brakes) than racing on a track.

I also can't figure out what the big deal is about this. RC-Monster guys did this conversion like a year or two ago.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Lipo_Pack.html

or these when they get back in stock: http://www.valuehobby.com/power-syst...-car-lipo.html

the 6.5 should be fine on 3S.

the novak website says the novak hv 6.5 can handle 2s-4s lipo so thats why i am confused why people tell me to not run 4s on it.

it probably can handle the voltage unloaded. put it in a somewhat heavy 1/9 scale 4x4 (ten-t is really between a 1/10 and 1/8 scale), and it will struggle to stay cool on 4S. it's experience that people are speaking from. i run my 810-e on a castle 1415 (2400kv) on 3S and it rips. if i wanted to get stupid, i could run 4S on it if i geared it low. i really think something like that would be your best bet. i understand you want to run what you have and what you bought, but you make a thread here asking for advice and everybody is telling you that you're asking for trouble running the setup that you have planned.

and no, the RC-monster 32p gearing won't help the situation. the motor mount will only move so far which means you can only gear it so low.

IMO, sell the motor you have and get an 1/8 scale motor (or a 4 pole 550), that will safely allow you to run 4S.

btw, what esc do you plan to use?
