Default MMM and Novak Ballistic Cogging BAD

Hi All-

Just installed a used Novak Ballistic 5.5 with my Castle MMM in my Slash 4x4. It now cogs REAL BAD. I also get brown out. Previously it had a Nue/Castle 2200kv motor and I had no cogging issues. I'm running a Futaba BLS451 Servo. I tried swapping it with a Savox 1256 and it didn't help. I disconnected the servo completely and it still cogs and brown out.

I just ordered a spektrum voltage protector, but I'm not confident that will fix the problem.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like a Sensor plug that has gone bad . I run a sensorless combo on my SCTE and its not a MMM and it coggs bad from a stand still start and at a pretty low speed. I run a 2200kv on my truggy and never had any cogging issues at all . It seems to do it more on smaller scale ESC/motors for some reason.

Try a new Sensor wire or twist the motor wires together.

The MMM is sensorless. You are probably thinking of the MMP.

Correct. I am running this as a sensorless setup.

MMM is designed to run sensroless motors only. If you want to run a Novak 5.5 you need the MMP which Castle designed to run with sensored motors via the sensor cable or sensorless.

You have the wrong speedo for the job inteneded.

Thanks for the help guys.

is the tekin 550 size any better about cogging with a sensorless ESC, or am I limited to a sensorless motor?

I have used the exact same combo he is using and it did cog a little but not anymore than running a sensorless motor. OP have you played with the ESC's settings ? Try turning up start power in the ESC menu . I ran this way for several weekends and though it wasnt optimal it did work till I got my sensored ESC back from repair.

A sensored motor is designed no differently than a sensorless one , with the exception of the sensor pack on the endbell . The Novak is a 2 pole motor which probably has something to do with how it runs sensorless .

The Tekin will run like the Ballistic does , you need to get a sensored ESC for the smoothest running setup . There are a few that are relatively cheap and will run any motor you put on them .

You need to get a sensored ESC and keep the motor. Or get a sensorless motor and keep the MMM.
