Default 20c batteries in 1/8 buggy?

The sky lipo 4s 5A 20c packs are only $41.. but the 20c worries me a little. Im only running on a track, no bashing really. How much do you think these would heat up?

Did that 3 years ago for an "E" buggy, they will come off 110deg & slightly swelled with a 1700kv motor.

If you were doing a 1400kv on a 5s or 6s it would work.

Look for a pack that totals up above 150amp (5000mAh X 30C = 150Amp).
If you are worried about weight & not runtime some 4400mAh 35c would work too.
The bigger the better...

Me along with a couple of my buddies only use cheap Turnigy 20C 5,000mah 4S packs and they run great. We get 20-25 minutes of run time on each pack and we are all using 2,000kv motors in our buggies. The packs come off at around 95 degrees and haven't failed us yet. They are rated at only 20C but they perform with higher rated packs. We have zero problems running with guys using high priced packs.

And at only $23 a pack you would be hard pressed to find a better deal on packs:

On 4S theres no way I would ever run 20C batteries. Most 1/8th scale motors can pull nearly 150A. You're just asking for a flaming truck at that rate.

Personally I use 35c 5000mah from venom, or I run 2 50c 5000 packs from venom or reedy in series. People who buy expensive electronics and cheap batteries are the ones who end up telling horror stories.

That's all I've ran for the past year with NO issues of any kind. I ran them in my losi buggy and truggy and now in my rc8.2e. I have never had one of them fail me yet.

And I'm not running expensive electronics. I'm running Speed Passion Silver Arrow V2 escs in my 1/8th vehicles and Brushlesshobbies.com 120 amp escs in my 1/10th stuff. NEVER had a single issue out of my escs or batteries.

I guess a lot of it comes down to gearing and whether or not you treat the throttle like an on/off switch. But I personally have zero problems running with all the high end batteries and electronics others are using. Matter of fact I got a 2nd place in 1/10th buggy and a 3rd in 1/8 e buggy a week ago at a indoor track in NC....

I have run the SKY 20c 4000mah Lipos for about 6 months with ZERO issues. I get around 15min of run time and temps are 95 to 110 after a 10min main. I was very hesitant to buy the batteries but for $60 shipped for both couldnt loose. I race only no bashing, I have a Losi 2.0 w/1900kv Tekin and can not tell a difference in the punch from a 40c battery. Very happy with the batteries!!!

Im running a 2700kv motor. Pretty similar to a 2650kv. I thought about getting something lower but ill buy one when this burns up

So.. i should probably wait for some 30c packs then?

I am running the turnigy 5k 20c packs as well. In a truggy with a 1700kv tacon motor and an mmp. No issues and these packs are almost 2 years old and beat to crap. I keep wondering when they will die. They take a long time to balance and dont quite have the punch or runtime they could.I do find i drive a little smoother(consistent) with them. I also do t gear high or drive as retarded as i used to.
Not sure about the sky lipos though.I do think you have to take everything into consideration. I think 2650kv would be too high. I think that kind of draw might push the 20c packs to the limit.

Here at Tekin, we recommend at least 35c with our systems.

That's A LOT OF MOTOR I'd be looking at a 3s pack if I was you! I'm not even sure if you can gear low enough to make use of that motor.
