Default RC10B4.1 Battery Recommendation

I'm picking up a RC10b4.1 and need some advice on batteries. I plan on racing the buggy, but will probably spend a lot of time practicing on the track first. So, I was thinking of only getting a 25C battery but with 5000mah so I could get a decent runtime. I know you should try to get as much C as you can but I can only spend around 50 bucks and I'm concerned about runtime since this will be my only battery for a while.

What type of runtimes do you guys get?

(I'll be running the stock motor)

Here are the two batteries I was looking at:

Associated Reedy WolfPack LiPo 2S 7.4V 3400mAh 35C Dean
Venom LiPo 2S 7.4V 5000mAh 25C Hard Case Universal

The venom will work fine. If you want more battery for less money, look at the gens ace.

Get the hobbyking 65-130c 6600mah, comes to less then $50 shipped 3 day air, and by far the best battery i have every used. Fits great, and I can run for an hour straight in my b4.1

There was a Thread started a few days ago about battery C ratings
If I recall correctly. The higher the C the better efficiency which allows for better (longer) run times.

I have a 5300 50c battery. with a Castle Sidewinder and 1410 3800 we got near 1 hour of run time.

I think on my B4.1 with my 13.5 I get about 45-1 hour of run time. I never drive for that long. Normally just 5-10 mins to check temp and practice a Heat time race.

If I remember correctly, higher mah will give you a longer run time. C rating is the charging rate, discharging rate and internal resistance. I'm not sure how much draw comes from the stock motor of the b4.1, but I'm sure it isn't much.

You are correct, mah gives you the run time. The C rating is used for discharge rate. Basically your continuous discharge is calculated by mah * C rating. Your peak discharge is mah * peakC rating.

On the b4.1 i am sure anything over a true 20c would be fine. However its best to buy the highest C rated batteries, since they will make a difference in other cars.

I went with the Venom 5000mah 25C. It fit perfetly into the battery holder and I got about 40 minutes of run time just fooling around in a ball field.

I race with the Reedy Wolfpack and I love it. I have the bullet plug 25C version, but I believe they have the same cell as the deans plug packs.

Been running the Pro-Match 5000 and 5200 30C packs in my blinky B4.1. They work great and the $40 price point isn't bad either.
